Amazon didn't get its way in Saks Global bankruptcy this round. In court yesterday the e-commerce giant argued strenuously against the financing setup, but the judge approved it nevertheless. More profoundly, though, the e-commerce giant called its $475 million investment into the luxury department store group "worthless."

S&P Global Ratings downgraded Saks Global due to their default on that $100M interest payment and because the analysts don't believe they'll make the payment within the 30-day grace period. Not a surprise.

Most interesting is their (and others') idea that the so-called synergies from acquiring Neiman Marcus Group amount to nothing but a pipe dream.
