After working on big global eCommerce brands like Billabong, Quiksilver and Roxy, running a multimillion-dollar digital marketing agency for savvy business owners and being a Chief Marketing Officer for European Tech business, it was time to set up on my own.

I purposefully set out to work with only a handful of Aussie eCommerce brands to plan out their eCommerce strategy and implement it for them. This includes refining brand position, building sites and increasing traffic and sales. They are in fashion, travel and furniture industry.

I decided to only work with a handful to make sure I over-delivered for them. It's working well. Some owners have paid of their mortgage and others selling out months a head of plan.

I like helping them build eCommerce businesses that are cashflow positive rather than headline-grabbing topline revenue-focused.

Some call this old fashion, I just call it common sense.

After 6 great years in an agency, it was time for a new challenge on a global scale with the opportunity to work remotely.

As Chief Marketing Officer I developed and implemented the global marketing strategy for a web hosting company. SiteGround handcrafts servers to deliver exceptionally fast and secure web hosting.

In my time there we increased sites we hosted from 750,000 to 1,500,000. 

We did this by understanding what target customers valued and communicate how the great technical work implemented delivered this, in a simple and concise way as possible across three different languages.

This meant developing a global marketing strategy, using customer journeys, then regionalise it based on specific market requirements. Then executed via a mix of channels including PPC, Affiliates, Social, Email, Events and SEO/Content to bring the customer journey together.

This was a remote contract where I was predominately based in Brisbane, Australia, working daily with teams 25 marketing specialists in Bulgaria, Canada, Spain & Italy.

General Manager for a Digital Marketing agency. Reload works with large and small business throughout Australia to develop and implement digital marketing strategies to help them achieve their goals. They work across multiple channels and tools including, Content Marketing, SEO, Google Adwords, Social Media & Google Analytics to help clients grow their businesses. I played a role in the sales process taking potential clients through a consultant phase, develop the right mix of digital marketing services for them, right through to deliver and drawing insights from reports. 

I was responsible for the Brisbane head office with 35 staff, and the team of 25 in the Philippines with managers reporting to myself on the progress of their teams. I applied my hands on digital knowledge, which I've been developing since 2003, to train and develop the team and help clients achieve their online goals.

I was in charge of the SEO and content team at Brisbane based online marketing agency Reload Media. There I set the direction for the agencies approach to SEO & Content, ensured the performance of 350 SEO clients across Australia and the UK. We focused on the best long term tactics to increase rankings, traffic and leads to clients websites.

In this role I worked across multiple industries, including retail, automotive, pharmaceutical, hospitality, travel, financial and education. Each time planning and implementing the best approach to help our clients achieve their goals.

A key part of this role was also setting up a remote office in APAC, where I recruited and trained full time digital marketers. This involved regular travel to Asia and managing a remote team, to ensure company culture was built and maintained.

Two Seasons/Billabong

I was brought into this multi channel retailer to build up the ecommerce store, by leveraging my technical digital marketing skills. 1 year into the role the company was bought by Billabong, where I continued to run ecommerce for Billabong & Two Seasons in the UK & Europe.

I applied my digital marketing experience, including SEO, PPC/SEM, Email Marketing, Social Media Marketing and Affiliate skills to build the online store from the smallest in turnover off all 26 stores to the largest in revenue.

During my time there I also planned, setup, launched and ran an additional online clearance store to help clear aged stock, clearing premium physical retail space in store to make way for higher margin products.

While working there the team I managed grew from 3 to 10, where I managed a wide range of skills from customer service and warehouse staff to web developers and digital marketers.

Startup design & marketing agency, where we designed, built and marketed a wide range of websites for clients.  Industries including public sector, automotive and tourism. I was one of the original members of the founding team, which really allowed me to shape the the direction of the web & marketing departments.

* Managing a team of 3 developers and marketers, full time and contractors
* Web design, development and online marketing for the agency
* Providing clarity on technical issues to non-tech clients & staff  

Accomplishments
* Ranking client no1. In Google.co.uk for “Car Servicing”
* Increasing car servicing sales 32% within the first 6 months

* Successfully launched multiple client sites

I worked as a Web Developer and online marketer mainly in the leisure industry. I specialised in the creation of custom php & MySQL websites. I would work closely with the creative team to convert approved designs and online applications in working sites.

I would also apply my SEO, & PPC/SEM knowledge to help promote clients websites. As the role developed I would also consult face to face with clients to ensure the specs of the site we were building matched their needs.

Tower Publishing were the largest magazine subscription fulfilment company in the UK, until they were bought by CDS Global.

I designed, built & promoting E commerce websites. Launched E Commerce websites for companies including Future Publishing, Bauer Media & National Magazines. A notable achievement was ranking no.1 in Google.co.uk for “Magazine subscriptions”. This ignited my passion for digital marketing.

I help Aussie SMBs run eCommerce business based on my experience of doing it for brands like Billabong and running my own eCommerce business.

I post about what I know and am learning to help others. This includes social ads, stock control, buying businesses, improving cash flow, SEO, Google ads, email marketing and every other challenge an eCommerce business has.
