There was a point where my life made sense to everyone else,
and almost none to me.

Nothing was obviously wrong.
That was the problem.

I had the job, the income, the trajectory people admired.
I was doing what I said I wanted to do.
I was doing it well.

Someone said this to me in the comments recently… and it honestly lifted my whole mood.

She wrote:

“I should read this every day. You’re a truly beautiful person.”

And honestly… I just sat there for a moment like 🥹

Not because I need praise (although let’s be real, we all love a little love).

But because when someone takes the time to say something like that… it lands.

I replied saying:

“Thank you. I’m blushing.”

And then she wrote something else that properly got me:

“You’re someone I could talk to every day and feel safe.”

And I just sat there for a second.

Because… wow.

That word safe is such a big deal, isn’t it?

Most people don’t want more “tips”.

They want to feel like they can breathe.

Like they don’t have to explain themselves.
Or defend their feelings.
Or be the strong one for everyone else for once.

Today I want to share something incredibly personal.

My Saffy has died.
She was 26 years old.

Saffy was never “just a cat”.

She was fiercely independent, strong, and chose me every single day.
Not out of habit.
Not out of need.
But because somewhere along the way, she decided we were a team.

She came to me when dogs were brought into her old home.
And instead of shrinking back, she stepped into a whole new life with confidence.

She was always the boss, even with 10 dogs.

When we were made homeless and had to camp, she adapted without fear.
Wandering through woodland and farmland.
Wearing a harness for the first time with no resistance, no fuss.

It was as if she understood life had shifted and we had to move safely together.

And the moment we found our home again?

She refused to wear it.

Her message was clear:
We’re safe now.

During Covid, while living on a farm, she showed love in the most “Saffy” way possible.
Proudly bringing me mice - gifts from her world - absolutely certain she was contributing.

She was fearless in the most unexpected moments.

When armed police raided the farm searching for weapons, while everything felt tense and heavy…

Saffy calmly walked over and said hello.

Completely unbothered.
Entirely herself.

Her quiet confidence softened a moment that could have felt very different.

She listened - not because she had to, but because she chose to.

“Stay.”
“Where are you going?”
“No.”
And my favourite…
“Ahmm… what are you doing?”

Those simple words kept us both safe more times than I can count.

But she was also very clear about what she wanted too.

Our communication was always a two-way street.

In the flats where we lived, she was a firm favourite.

Wandering through the gardens, people would stop, smile, and greet her.

She carried herself like she belonged everywhere.

And somehow… she did.

In the garden, she’d stretch out in the coolest spots, quietly content, while I sat nearby in the sun.

Always close.
Never clinging.

Together.
But free.

She shared herself so generously with anyone who cared for her when I went away.

Trust.
Companionship.
Presence.

And she supported my clients too.

She knew when someone needed calm.

She would stay close until they had worked through whatever they were carrying.

She knew how to hold space.

Losing her has left a silence I can’t quite put into words.

Grief shows up in the smallest moments.

When I realise I no longer need to feed her.
Or clean her litter tray.
When I go to give her a kiss and tell her I won’t be long…
and remember she isn’t there.

My heart feels broken in places I didn’t even know existed.

But more than anything, I feel so deeply grateful.

Grateful for a relationship built on choice.
On trust.
On respect.

She gave companionship without attachment.
Loyalty without dependency.
Love without conditions.

I was chatting to a woman not long ago and she said something really casually, like it wasn’t important.

She said,
“I don’t know why I’m so tired. Nothing’s actually wrong.”

And then she sort of smiled, like she didn’t want me to read too much into it.

On paper, her life was fine.
Work was okay.
Relationships were okay.
No big crisis going on.

But as she kept talking, I noticed how careful she was with her words.

She kept qualifying things.
Softening them.
Making sure she didn’t sound ungrateful or dramatic.

At one point she stopped and said,
“I don’t even know why I’m telling you this.”

And I remember thinking… that’s exactly why you are.

Because what she wasn’t saying out loud was,
“I’m holding myself together all the time and I’m tired of doing that.”

She wasn’t looking for advice.
She didn’t want fixing.
She just needed a space where she didn’t have to manage herself.

I see this so often.

Women who aren’t falling apart.
They’re not broken.
They’re just quietly carrying a lot, and they’ve been doing it for so long it feels normal.

So when the tiredness shows up, they question themselves instead of listening to it.

Nothing big happens in moments like this.
There’s no dramatic breakthrough.

Usually there’s just a small exhale when someone feels met instead of managed.

If you’re reading this and thinking, yes… that’s me, you don’t need to do anything with it.

Just know this:
Feeling tired doesn’t always mean you need more rest.
Sometimes it means you’ve been holding yourself in for a long time.

And even noticing that can change how you breathe a little.

Quietly.

I’ve been thinking about how often women tell me,
“I know I should slow down… but I don’t know how.”

And what they usually mean is:
I don’t know how to slow down without feeling like I’m failing.

This is where the Sloth & Beaver work actually comes alive.

Most of the time, you already know which one you’re living from.
You don’t need a label to tell you.

If you’re exhausted but still pushing, that’s slothbeaver without beaversloth.
If you’re stuck and numb and can’t move, that’s sloth without beaver.

Neither is wrong.
Both are trying to protect you.

What I see again and again is women judging themselves for being in the “wrong” one.

“I should be doing more.”
“I should be further along.”
“I should have fixed this by now.”

And that judgement is usually what keeps them stuck.

The kit was never about choosing one over the other.
It was about recognising what’s actually needed in this moment.

Sometimes the most responsible thing you can do is pause.
Sometimes the most compassionate thing is to rebuild something that’s no longer working.

The problem starts when you rebuild from exhaustion…
or rest when what you actually need is structure.

This isn’t about balance in a neat, Instagram-friendly way.
It’s about timing. And honesty.

I often say to women:
Before you ask yourself what should I do?
ask what part of me is leading right now?

That question alone changes everything.

I’ve been thinking about something that comes up a lot when women first come to work with me.

Most of them don’t come in with big expectations. They’re usually quite practical. Quite grounded. They often say things like,
“I don’t really know what to expect,” or
“I’m not really into anything too ‘out there’.”

They’re not looking for an experience.
They’re just tired of carrying things on their own.

What often surprises them is how quickly something starts to shift when the right thing is finally looked at.

That first session can be emotional, not in an overwhelming way. More like a release. Like something they’ve been holding onto for a long time finally gets a chance to loosen.

And once that happens, they start to see themselves differently.

They understand why they react the way they do.
They feel calmer in themselves.
They stop being so hard on themselves.

From there, changes start to happen quietly.

Their relationships feel easier.
They feel more confident at work.
They begin to like themselves again, sometimes for the first time in a long while.

One thing I hear again and again is how supported they feel. Not pushed. Not judged. Just listened to. Knowing they can reach out, ask a question, or say “I’m struggling” and be met with kindness.

That matters more than any technique.

This work isn’t for women who want fixing.
It’s for women who want to understand themselves properly and make choices from a steadier place.

Your timing matters.

You know something I don’t think we talk about enough?
How confusing it can be when you’re doing “better”… but you don’t actually feel lighter yet.

I hear women say this all the time.
“I’ve made changes.”
“I’m clearer than I used to be.”
“I’m not in the same place anymore.”

And all of that can be true.

But there’s still this sense of heaviness, or flatness, or almost disappointment, like, shouldn’t I feel different by now?

Here’s what’s usually going on.

Change often happens in your thinking long before it lands in your body.

Your mind might already know you’re safer now.
That you have more choice.
That you don’t have to live the way you once did.

But your body hasn’t caught up yet.

So you’re in this in-between place where you’re no longer who you were… but you don’t quite feel like who you’re becoming either.

That gap can feel unsettling.

It can make you doubt yourself.
Make you wonder if the changes are real.
Make you think you’ve done something wrong.

You haven’t.

Your system is just recalibrating.

For a long time, it learned how to survive one version of your life. It organised itself around that. When things shift, it needs time to learn the new rules.

That doesn’t mean you’re stuck.
It means you’re adjusting.

What helps here isn’t pushing for the “next level” or demanding that you feel grateful or healed or positive.

What helps is letting yourself be where you are without turning it into a problem.

This stage passes more smoothly when it’s allowed.

If you’re in that in-between space right now, there’s nothing wrong with you. You’re not behind. You’re not regressing.

You’re integrating.

And that’s quieter than most people expect.

I do not rush women into this work.

I have watched what happens when insight arrives before a woman feels safe in her body, and when clarity gets pushed before she has space to breathe. It does not create relief. It often mirrors the same experiences where her pace never mattered and her signals went unnoticed.

Many women already know how to comply. They learned it early. They learned how to move quickly, how to stay agreeable, how to manage themselves so others felt comfortable. Speed rarely feels neutral to them. It often feels familiar in ways they do not want anymore.

Pressure teaches a woman to disconnect from herself. It does not teach her how to trust what she feels.

When women come to this work, they usually carry a quiet exhaustion from years of overriding their own timing. If I rush them, I repeat the very pattern they are trying to step out of. I will not do that.

This work asks for timing. Readiness lives in the nervous system, not on a timeline. When a woman moves at her own pace, she stays with herself. She notices when something softens and when something tightens. She begins to listen instead of brace.

Insight that comes too soon can feel intrusive. Insight that comes when a woman feels safe tends to settle and remain available to her long after the moment passes.

My role is not to take women somewhere quickly. My role is to offer a space where choice returns. From there, movement happens in its own way. Decisions feel grounded. Change integrates into daily life rather than overwhelming it.

Safety builds capacity. Capacity allows truth. Truth supports self-leadership.

When a woman chooses the moment, the work holds.
