I recently attended a fantastic Key Note by Rachel Botsman on Trust. She talked about how most organisations are constantly asking consumers to make a trust leap.  A leap from the known, to the unknown - when asking consumers to use their product. 

🙏 As consumers we are constantly being asked to trust that an organisation's product adds value, and that this value does not come at the cost of our privacy or our data's security. With the introduction of AI, we are being asked to trust that the output is accurate, fair and free from bias. 

⭕ This trust is not built overnight. It is built through the safe and compliant design of products. It is built through a showcase of compliance to regulation and standards. It is built through partnerships with regulators. Through organisational controls that target risks. Through transparency and showcase of preparedness during an incident. 

🤝 Trust is built through an understanding that when asking a consumer to make that leap, to trust your product, they need to be taken on the journey. They need to believe that their privacy and security matters to you. They are owed that journey. 

💡 I think CISOs are uniquely positioned to help organisations build that trust. As we are aware of what could go wrong and see this as an opportunity to mitigate it. We are able to help support consumers' trust leap. CISOs that do this well, are key to building brand trust.
