With over 10 years of experience in risk management in the insurance industry, I am currently the Chief Risk Officer and board member at MISE (Markel Insurance SE) at Markel, a global and diverse financial holding company. In this role, I oversee the risk strategy, governance, and culture of the company, ensuring compliance with regulatory and internal standards, and enhancing the value creation and protection of the business. I have a Certificate in Quantitative Finance (CQF) from Paul Wilmott and a certification from the Global Association of Risk Professionals (GARP), which demonstrate my expertise and dedication in the field of financial risk management. Previously, I worked as the CRO Life Germany at Zurich Gruppe Deutschland and as the Risk Officer Global Life at Zurich Versicherungs-Gesellschaft AG, where I managed the strategic risk management of the global life business, the product approval process for unit-linked, protection and guaranteed products, and the internal capital model for global life risk. I also co-authored a book chapter on Solvency II and capital investments, and have multiple publications on risk-related topics. I am passionate about developing innovative and sustainable solutions that address the complex and evolving risk management challenges of the insurance sector, and I strive to contribute to the mission and vision of Markel, which is to provide excellent service, quality products, and fair claims handling. I bring a diverse and inclusive perspective to the board and the risk function, and I value collaboration, integrity, and excellence.
