Yesterday’s Unsubscribe workshop reminded me why I stay inside Justin Welsh’s paid community.
He brought in Jenny Wood, and her session was one of the most honest, courageous conversations I’ve seen in a long time.

She didn’t teach tactics.

Real clarity doesn’t come from forcing yourself to “be more disciplined.”

What hit you the hardest?

A thought on today’s sky (see image below) Sometimes, we’re all looking at the same scene… but seeing something completely different.

Some see the dark clouds.

Others notice the white ones.

And a few can’t stop staring at the patch of blue sky.

None of them are wrong. They’re just standing in different spots.

That’s what happens on teams, too.

Each person’s perspective is shaped by where they’re standing — their role, their experience, their challenges.

The magic of alignment isn’t getting everyone to see the same thing.

It’s bringing everyone together to understand the whole picture.

That’s how you move forward — not by choosing one view, but by seeing through all of them!

Your strategy isn’t broken. Your alignment is.
You know this if:

- Every quarter starts strong and ends in excuses
- You’re in 8 different Slack threads trying to “unstick” work
- You secretly believe, “If I don’t hold this together, no one will.”
This isn’t a planning problem.
It’s an ownership and focus problem.

Here’s a simple alignment check I use with CEOs:

1. One owner or many:
    For every major initiative, can you name one clear owner in 3 seconds?
    If two people own it, no one owns it.

2. Outcomes or tasks
   Ask your team, “What does success look like by the end of this quarter?”
   If you hear task lists instead of concrete outcomes, execution will drift.

3. Priority or wish list
   Look at your roadmap.
   Could a smart outsider point to your top three priorities without you explaining  anything? If not, your people are busy, not aligned.

When we run a 90-day alignment reset with a leadership team, we only do three things:

1. Map the real work to 3–5 measurable outcomes
2. Assign single owners
3. Build a simple weekly rhythm to keep promises visible

One method. One page. One conversation that removes you as the bottleneck.
