I direct the Program in Creative Writing at the University of Alabama, and am founder of The Long Schoolroom, a learning community devoted to creative exploration and personal development. 

I am author of several books and a certified holistic arts coach with over 30 years of experience guiding others to write well, think deeply, and enact spirited transformation in their lives and work. 

Everything is invention and revision.  

You might not read poetry (I won't judge!), but we all need the poetic (a word which in Greek simply means “making”): beauty, connection, inspiration, wit. 

I team with high-performing creators, founders, leaders, and groups to spur them to new levels of clarity and direction, to workshop ideas and innovations, to integrate the personal with the professional. 

Wonder is at the heart of all artistic enterprises—and everything is an art!—so let’s court more of it in all we do. The imagination is our highest faculty, and dreams are the heart of reality.

I've analyzed complex pharmaceutical titrations, dosage management, and route administration techniques. My goal is always to provide appropriate education and treatment to patients suffering from life-long chronic inflammatory conditions.

In my role as a patient evaluator, I honed my skills in examining medical histories and determining eligibility according to strict state guidelines and medical necessities. My attention to detail and commitment to rigorous standards enabled me to help countless patients receive the care they need.

With a keen eye for design and a deep understanding of effective marketing, I managed the creation of successful marketing brochures that accurately communicate the benefits of the clinic products and services. Additionally, I'm well-versed in financial management, and have experience logging merchandise and auditing inventory to ensure efficient and accurate operations.

I had the honor of working in several departments with Ozark Center. I started in pediatrics, where I discovered my passion for caring for children and their families. Later, I transitioned to adult psychiatry and then I eventually took on the exciting challenge of launching a new program for the facility. This enabled us to acquire more physicians from outside the state and offer more care and visits to our patients.

As a Senior Telehealth Trainer, I was tasked with launching a Telemedicine Department and training newly hired staff. This role allowed me to share my technological expertise and help others build their own knowledge and skills. I took great pride in seeing my team grow and succeed under my guidance.

I administered psychotropic medication injections and meticulously analyzed blood labs to prevent prescription-drug toxicity. I also conducted extensive research on physician documentation review for prior authorizations of prescriptions and antipsychotic medications, allowing us to streamline our processes and provide the best possible care for our patients.

With a positive, upbeat personality and a personable approach, I've worked hard to make a difference in the lives of my patients and my colleagues. I'm proud of my accomplishments and look forward to continued success in the healthcare field. 

Living in a small town and working closely with a multitude of physicians was an exciting and rewarding experience. I remember driving over to the hospital for a physician signature to signify a patient's prescription. Being able to reach physicians within 10 minutes of visiting with a patient was incredibly efficient, especially compared to the busy city life I was accustomed to. I took great pleasure in caring for the patients of Joplin, Missouri and working alongside the dedicated healthcare professionals in the area.
