I don’t train to be super shredded.

Most of my life, I hated every second of being alive.

Because of that, birthdays were never something I looked forward to. 

They just felt like a reminder of another year of a miserable existence.

Even after transforming my life, I still never liked celebrating my birthday. There was always a negative cloud around it.

Plus I never felt worthy or deserving of it, so I avoided it.

This year has me emotional though, cause it’s the first year it’s different.

This is the first year I actually wanted to plan something. I have people in my life and I want to be around them. I want to celebrate.

It feels a bit uncomfortable and new... but damn does it feel good.

I feel beyond blessed to be here and see another year.

If I had to lose 20+ pounds in the new year, this is exactly how I’d do it:

1. Walk 8–10k steps daily
Low stress, lowers cortisol, controls cravings, and is the most sustainable fat-loss habit there is.

2. Eat 30–40g protein at breakfast
This alone fixes energy crashes and nighttime overeating for most people.

3. Strength train 3–4x/week
Basic lifts. Good form. Progressive overload.
This is how you boost metabolism and change your shape — not endless cardio.

4. Keep meals boring and repeatable
Pick 2–3 go-to breakfasts and lunches. Predictability beats willpower.

5. Plan for busy days
Know your default orders at places like Chipotle or Chick-fil-A.

When decisions are made ahead of time, consistency becomes automatic.

6. Limit alcohol to 0–1x/week
Better sleep, fewer cravings, faster progress.

7. Sleep 7–8 hours
If you’re tired, fat loss always feels harder.

8. Track patterns, not perfection
Pay attention to hunger, energy, cravings, strength, and sleep — not just the scale.

9. Aim for B+ days
Consistency beats perfection. Every time.

Simple. Sustainable. Repeatable.

I’ve been loaded up on meds.

SSRIs. Anxiety meds. Sleeping pills.

And nothing has come close to what consistent exercise has done for my mental health.

Not just for my body — but for my mind, my energy, my resilience, and how I show up in my life.

Movement changes your brain chemistry.

It regulates stress. It improves sleep. It builds confidence. It gives you momentum.

No pill ever taught me how to trust myself, regulate my emotions, or feel capable in my own body the way training has.

Sure, medication can have a place. But it should never replace doing the work, and making an active effort on the fundamentals for health.

Exercise is one of the most powerful, underrated tools we have for mental health, longevity, and performance.

Don’t underestimate it.

One of the scariest realizations is knowing exactly what’s wrong... and still having no idea how to fix it.

I’ve talked to so many people lately who are stuck in that place.

They’re not in denial or making excuses.

They’re actually incredibly self-aware.

“I know my body is changing.” 
“I know I’m not who I used to be.” 
“I know what I’m doing isn’t working anymore.” 
“I just don’t know what to do next.”

And here’s the thing most people miss:

This is the turning point.

Because the people who change the fastest aren’t the ones who pretend everything’s fine... they’re the ones who finally stop outrunning the truth.

They’ve built full careers, raised families, handled responsibilities, and pushed through seasons that would break most people.

They’re not incapable. They’re exhausted, under-supported and have spent years putting themselves last.

Self-awareness is the signal. Structure is the solution. Action is the transformation.

There is absolutely nothing special about me.

But there is a reason why why I’ve stayed consistent for 12+ years when most people quit.

12 years.

That’s how long I’ve been going to the gym.

And in those 12 years, I have never once quit or taken a break from training.

Doesn’t matter if I felt like it.
Doesn’t matter if life threw things in my way.

And there was definitely nothing excpetional about me that led to my results except that I kept showing up.

Consistency is everything.

But here’s what most people miss:

You don’t stay consistent by relying on motivation.
You stay consistent by having structure you can adapt when life gets messy.

Long work days.
Kids.
Travel.
Stress.
Low energy.
Unexpected chaos that blows up your routine.

That’s where most people fall off because they don’t have a system that flexes with real life.

If your workout depends on the “perfect window,” you’ll miss it.

If your nutrition depends on the “perfect day,” you’ll fall off.

Consistency becomes easy when you can scale your habits:
• 15-minute workouts when the day gets away from you
• simple protein-centered meals instead of complicated tracking
• non-negotiables that anchor your day no matter what’s happening

The goal isn’t perfection.

It’s staying in motion even when life isn’t.

That’s how real transformation happens.

It’s been an absolutely bokers year of growth:

I found God and stepped into my faith.

I hired mentors for msyelf in all areas.

I built the most incredible team at Unbreakable.

I let myself get out of contant stress and grinding 24/7.

I traveled to Egypt, Peru and Costa Rica.

I quit my job and left the corporate world for good.

I grew as a leader.

I built true community here and deep relationships. 

I overcoming social anxiety and wrote and prepped a speech.

I fell back in love with volleyball.

I’m a completely different person than I was twelve months ago.

And it didn’t happen because the year changed, it happened because I did.

People think a new calendar will save them.

If you want a different year, you can’t bring the same habits, the same excuses, or the same version of yourself into it. That’s the part most people never address.

Your habits and standards are what change your life — not the date.

It’s always been up to you.

Ok, pull up your screen time real quick and tell me that again...

For most people, time isn’t actually the issue. 

Yeah - life is busy, work is demanding schedules are unpredictable. Kids, travel, stress, responsibilities. 

By the end of the day, there’s nothing left.

The problem isn’t a lack of effort. It’s that exercise isn’t built into life in a way that survives real life.

When workouts require perfect conditions, long sessions, or high motivation, they’re the first thing to go. 

And then people blame themselves for being “inconsistent.”

The fix isn’t finding more time.
It’s simplifying the plan.

- shorter, efficient workouts
- daily movement that fits into the day you already have 
- clear non-negotiables instead of all-or-nothing thinking

When exercise is structured into your routine instead of treated like an optional task, consistency stops being a fight.

This is exactly what my client David did.

He has two young kids, a demanding job, and travels every week for work. 

Time was his biggest concern coming in and he was stuck in the cycle of starting and falling off when life gets busy for years. 

We didn’t add more to his plate or ask him to overhaul his life.

We built structure around his reality.

Now he’s the leanest he’s ever been, hitting PRs in the gym, training consistently even while traveling, and no longer starting over every time life gets busy.

It’s the same life, but different structure, and completely different results.

Time usually isn’t the issue. The plan is.

Christmas always brings up a lot of emotions.

It hasn't really been my thing for a while now since I've been pretty isolated a lot of my life.

I usually take it as a time for deep reflection... quiet time with myself, getting into nature, and looking back on the year.

But it can be tough just because the day looks different than what it “should” be.

This year I’m also using it to deepen my faith and appreciate the meaning behind it in that sense.

Either way, taking some time to train, catch up on work, spend time with my freinds, get some sunshine and set the vision for 2026.

This is THE elite exercise for hip mobility:

(Especially if you sit at a desk all day)

It’s called 90/90

It’s my all time favorite mobility drill for internal and external rotation of the hip

Sit on the ground with both legs at 90°
(This alone may already be a good stretch for you)

Then begin to lean forward to deepen the stretch

Key here is actively pressing your front knee and ankle into the ground while simultaneously raising your back ankle off the ground

Hold in that active stretch for a slow 5 seconds then release

That is one rep

Repeat 5-10 reps each side

I’ve had seasons where I was technically “doing all the right things” but still felt exhausted, anxious, checked out, and constantly behind. 

I was going through the motions. Always thinking about what was next instead of actually being where I was.

And that’s when it hit me. What’s the point of building a great life if you don’t have the energy to truly LIVE it?

Health isn’t just about preventing disease or adding years down the road. 

It’s about having the capacity to show up right now. 

To have energy at the end of the day. 
To be patient with the people you love. 
To be present instead of mentally somewhere else.

I see this all the time with the people I work with. 

They’re successful, driven, and responsible. They’ve built careers, families, and full lives. But they’re beaten down. 

Their health slowly becomes the thing they sacrifice to keep everything else running.

And over time, that cost adds up.

The goal is being able to keep up with your kids, your work, your relationships, and your life without feeling limited by your body or your energy.

That’s the version of health I care about. 
And that’s the one I try to live by now.

Because being here matters. 

But being present is everything.

Do meaningful shit with your life.

For a long time, I thought anxiety was something I just had to manage.

What I didn’t realize was how much it was destroying my body.

I couldn’t sleep. I felt physically sick every day. No appetite. Constant tension. Zero recovery. 

I wasn’t actually functioning, I was surviving.

I spent years trying to fix my thoughts first with therapy, affirmations, talking myself down and trying to outthink it.

I relied on meds, alcohol, binge eating, and distraction because I didn’t know what else to do. I was just trying to quiet the noise.

But the more I avoided my body, the worse it got.

The real shift happened when I stopped starting with my mind and started with my body instead.

Walking every day. Lifting a few times a week. Eating the right foods for my body.

Walking was the first thing that actually calmed my nervous system. It pulled me out of my head, lowered the constant edge, and gave me space to breathe again. Sometimes regulation really is that simple.

Strength training felt better than any drug. It gave me something anxiety couldn’t take from me. 

I felt in control, cpabale, I built self-trust. Every workout was proof I could show up and do hard things even when my mind said I couldn’t.

And food is where the lasting change happened.

Regular meals. Enough protein. Nutrients my body had been missing. My energy came back. My mood stabilized. I stopped living on edge. I finally felt like myself again.

I will never forget the first time I felt genuinely happy. It was just a random Tuesday on my way to work. I was happy to be alive...

Healing starts in the body.

Health and fitness gave me my life back.

And I learned this the hard way: you can’t think your way out of anxiety if your body doesn’t feel safe.

We idolize a lot of things in life that were never meant to be idols.

Work.
Money.
Status.
Achievement.
Relationships.

We get so caught up chasing, proving, building, and becoming that we forget what actually matters.

Faith.
Peace.
Health.
Presence.
Relationships that feel safe, not stressful.
A life that feels full — not just impressive from the outside.

None of the things we obsess over are bad on their own.
Money isn’t bad. Ambition isn’t bad. Wanting more isn’t bad.

But when they become the *main* thing — the source of our worth, our identity, our sense of security — something always feels off. There’s always another level. Another goal. Another thing to chase.

And somehow, even when you “have it,” it still doesn’t feel like enough.

I’ve had to check myself on this a lot. Letting status, perception, and money quietly take over my focus without realizing it. Measuring myself by how things look instead of how they feel.

So I had to step back and ask myself what I’m actually building for — and who I’m becoming in the process.

Success is great. But not at the cost of your peace, your health, or the people you love.

Decide what matters most.
Let everything else fall around that.

Poor sleep:
• increases hunger hormones
