I almost flipped past this ad, thinking it was for a professional camera.

Then I opened the page… and the idea suddenly made perfect sense.

While going through a newspaper, I came across a print ad for the Xiaomi 17 Ultra that genuinely made me pause.

The first page shows the device with a photography kit, styled exactly like a professional camera.

The headline reads:

“The best camera we’ve ever made.”

Naturally, it feels like a classic camera brand campaign.

But the moment you open the French window layout, the story flips.

The “camera” slides into someone’s pocket with the line:

“It’s also a smartphone.”

That reveal is the entire magic of the idea.

In a single moment, the ad communicates Xiaomi's point about the Xiaomi 17 Ultra: the gap between professional cameras and smartphones is narrowing, especially with imaging developed alongside Leica.

No complicated explanation.
Just a simple twist that makes the message stick.

In a world full of digital noise, it’s refreshing to see print storytelling done this well.

Saw something recently that felt less like an ad… and more like a call-out 👀

You know how almost every smartphone campaign sounds premium on the surface?

“Unmatched performance.”
“All-day battery.”
“Next-level experience.”

And then somewhere at the bottom… there’s a paragraph doing damage control.

What POCO did with their latest campaign is interesting. They didn’t ignore this pattern they built the entire idea around it.

They launched something called the “Fastest BS Service.”

Got rapper Gaush to speed-rap competitor disclaimers so fast that they basically become noise.

It’s cheeky, yes.
But also very intentional.

Because it shifts the conversation from what brands claim→ to what they actually mean.

And that’s where their “All Power. No BS.” stance hits differently.

What stood out to me is the mindset behind it.
Most brands try to out-shout each other.

Very few step back and question the way the category communicates in the first place.

This one does that without sounding preachy.

Also feels very tuned to how younger audiences think today.

They don’t mind bold claims… they just don’t like feeling misled.

Campaigns like this don’t just promote a product, they expose a pattern.

And that’s what makes them stick.
