As someone who’s learning to navigate corporate life with a calm ambition, here are 5 things I think you should practice in 2026:

1. unlearn the habit of rushing to respond:  sometimes, the most professional thing you can do is pause.

2. collect quiet wins: not everything needs to be shared or announced. some growth stories are meant to stay between you and your notes app. 😉 

3. build your “energy map”: notice what (& who) drains you and what restores you during the workday. it’s data worth analyzing. 

4. speak about your work more often: Make sure to raise awareness of what you bring.

5. Make work friendships less transactional: share playlists, send memes, or go for an ice cream together on a random tuesday afternoon 🍦

No one really talks about this, but career growth doesn’t always come from doing more work.

It often shows up in unscripted moments. Small interactions, quick conversations, the way you handle things when no one’s formally evaluating you.

Remote work has its benefits. So does flexibility.
But some career moments only happen when you’re physically there to experience them.

Not because you’re working harder, but because people get to see how you show up.

Hot truth: being a perfectionist at work often slows you down more than it helps you.

Spending hours rethinking, refining, and reopening decisions doesn’t always mean higher quality. Most of the time, it just drains your energy and delays progress. Work rarely rewards the “most perfect” version. It rewards the version that moves things forward.

Learning to stop at good enough is a skill. One that protects your time, your focus, and honestly, your sanity.

1. from proving to improving: stop trying to be perfect; start trying to get better.

from “should I?” to “why not?”, experiment more often, even if the outcome feels uncertain.
3. from corporate language to human tone: write emails like you talk.
4. from self-doubt to self-data: track your own wins, skills, and feedback.

As someone who believes good work and good energy go hand-in-hand, here are 5 things to nurture besides your work:

1. your curiosity: follow one question down a rabbit hole every month. 🤔 

2. your rhythm: find your best work hours and protect them. ⏳ 

3. your attention: multitasking blurs impact; focus sharpens it. 🧠 

4. your gratitude muscle: name one thing you’re grateful for at work daily 🙏 

5. your boundaries: even excellence needs rest. 🛏️

Save this for the next time you’re questioning if the "grass is greener" on the other side of the career fence.

I remember being told “do what you love and you’ll never work a day in your life.” Then I realized that sometimes, doing what you love for money is the fastest way to stop loving it.

In reality, many of us stepped into careers that made practical sense - stability, growth, reputation and only later started to ask: Is this really what fulfills me?

So, here are the questions that help me look at the "why" behind my 9-to-5 !
