Game engines pose a very special challenge both technologically and in terms of business model.

From a technological perspective, they need to be extremely reliable despite their high complexity, forcing discipline and hygiene in software development, from continuous testing, benchmarking, to fast release cycles to support users well.
On the business side, the highly specialized skills required build them, and the massive amount of features required for their viability make it difficult to even arrive at a "real" MVP state. Business models are counter intuitively not just straight forward subscriptions, sales are highly technical, and when going to market, they face strong lock-in.

Today, I am proud to have surpassed the MVP stage with our web-optimized 3D game engine Wonderland Engine through a combination of 3+ years heads-down coding with ridiculous discipline and then raising venture capital to build an incredibly skilled team that I am grateful to be working with every single day.

With the recent merger of Wonderland and Robot Invader that formed Create Worlds, I was appointed as CEO to lead the go to market into Web Games with two game engines, Wonderland Engine and Story Machine, and an incredible portfolio of Game IP.
