It's what many are dreaming of in the cubicle (or their bedroom office)... but there are some radically harsh realities that come with it. "I'm a rockstar in my role, I could easily do this for others." - it's a great thought... if you want another job, not your own company.

Was thinking on this as I've watched Scott and team build Argo IQ. They're building it for the builders in MedTech who are tired of building it own their own. They're tired that their businesses have become a J O B.

I've found there's only one of 2 traits that make a great marketer

(And they hire for the rest)

Either...

You're phenomenal with data

OR

You're the best with words (i.e. communication)

Outside of that, I don't think most else matters. 

"But Luke, what about the cReAtIvE?!"

Sure, everything should look good, be on brand, or thought provoking - but the only reasons any of those things happen are because of data or words. 

Great marketers use data to influence, educated, and iterate strategy. 

Great marketers use words to connect, craft, and engage. 


If you can't do either of those, you're lost.
