There are tons of new startups who actively using "ragebait" to gain attention.

I think it's a bad vibe move in the long term

Ourposely using ragebaits for marketing because of "distribution" and "attention is everything" is like taking off your pants and doing the helicopter in front of your future in-laws

Sure you got attention but at what long term cost?

The better way is to "laughbait" instead.

Post entertaining and funny things that make someone's day better.

5 reasons I'll never take an in-office job again:

After 6+ years working remotely across 3 continents, going back to an office feels like downgrading my entire life.

Here's why:

- I've saved thousands on commuting. No gas, no overpriced lunch near the office, no "team drinks" that drain my wallet every Friday. That money? Invested in my business and travel.

- I'm way more productive at home. Open offices are productivity killers, I'd rather knock out deep work in 3 focused hours than in watercooler chat.

- I get to work from anywhere. I've run meetings from Taiwan, Mexico, and other countries, which lets me visit family without burning PTO.

- My work-life integration is actually real. I can take a midday walk, cook lunch, or squeeze in a workout without guilt about "leaving early" when I've got things done.

- I built a business while employed. Remote work gave me the space to start The Remote Marketer as a side hustle which changed my career trajectory.

Mirror their exact terms.

4. Cut the fluff

Remove objective statements, references, and anything that doesn't prove you can do the job.

5. Make it skimmable

- White space is your friend. 
- Short bullets and clear sections. 
- Easy to scan in 7 seconds.

Most people evaluate opportunities wrong.

They ask: "Is this a good job?"

Here's my framework for evaluating opportunities:

1/ Alignment check

- Open your career doc. 
- Write your 3-year goal at the top. 
- Does this role get you there? 

No = decline.

2/ Bridge test

- List 3 skills you need next. 
- Does this role teach them? 
- Check the team on LinkedIn.
- Will you build connections that matter? 

Yes to both = consider.

3/ Energy audit

- Set a timer for 2 minutes. 
- Talk about this role out loud. 
- Excited or forcing it? 

Your gut knows.

My client decided to pass.

She's now focusing her energy on roles that actually align with where she wants to be.

Not every opportunity is YOUR opportunity.

Your time is limited. Your energy is finite.

Spend both on what moves you forward.

Followers and likes feel good.

My lowest performing posts have brought me the most clients.

A post with 30 likes and 3 meaningful comments from the right people > 5,000 likes from the wrong audience every time.

If your content isn't aligned with your actual goals, you're just creating noise.

2/ Sounding like everyone else

Most posts don't say anything new. 

They repeat the same advice in the same way.

People who stand out have a strong point of view and share personal stories that make their content unique to them.

Your story is your advantage. Own it.

3/ Posting without engaging

LinkedIn rewards interaction. 

If you only post and disappear, the algorithm won't push your content or profile in searches.

- Comment on relevant posts. 
- Send DMs to the right people.
- Build real connections.

Visibility isn't just about what you publish. 

It's about showing up consistently in conversations.

So what should you do instead?

Before your next post, ask yourself: 

- Who is this for? 
- What do I want them to do? 
- What can only I say?

Then spend 10 minutes engaging with others before you hit publish.

That's the difference between "just posting" and getting noticed.

- First 2 lines are your value proposition.
- The rest is your story.
- Include your top achievements.

❌ "Managed social media" tells me nothing.

✅ "Grew Instagram from 5K to 50K in 6 months" gets my attention.

Numbers + context proves impact.

5/ Skills that match the role

- Top 5 skills show first.
- Align with what you're applying for.
- This is LinkedIn SEO.

6/ Recommendations

- At least 5-7 from managers or clients.
- They validate everything you claim.
- Ask for them before you need them.

As a Marketing Manager at Arc, I reviewed job descriptions from companies hiring remote talent.

As a career coach, I help job seekers decode what employers actually want.

The gap between the two? Massive.

Most companies hide behind corporate jargon and vague requirements, then act surprised when they only attract mediocre candidates.

Your job description IS your employer brand.

It either builds trust or destroys it before the first interview.

If you can't be clear in a JD, candidates assume you can't be clear as a leader.

I was rejected from my dream role before I could even apply.

But the conversation ended before it could start.

I'm legally hirable.

I've worked remotely for years with US companies.

I've built async systems that crush it.

But none of that mattered.

One arbitrary concern and I'm out.

Sitting there after that call, I felt it all.

The heaviness.
The frustration.
The exhaustion of proving yourself over and over.

And I thought about everyone else searching for remote jobs right now.

You're showing up every single day.

- Tailoring resumes for ATS systems.
- Writing cover letters no one reads.
- Networking across timezones.
- Interviewing on Zoom at odd hours.
- Following up and getting ghosted

All while dealing with rejection, silence, and people who still don't understand remote work in 2025.

The mental load is real.

Your laptop is always there.
The job boards never close.
LinkedIn never sleeps.

But taking one day to reset isn't lazy.

It's strategic.

You can't show up as your best self when you're burned out.

Remote work requires energy, clear communication, and self-management.

You can't bring that running on empty.

So give yourself permission to step back.

Close your laptop.
Watch something mindless.
Sleep in.

The job search will be there tomorrow.

And you'll tackle it with a clearer mind.

I spent years hiding the one thing that would eventually build my entire career.

My in-between identity.

I wasn't fully Mexican anymore, and I was never truly Taiwanese.

Everyone around me seemed more settled, more certain.

I felt like I was always catching up.

Then I stopped hiding it.

I started sharing my story openly on LinkedIn. 
The struggle of building a career across borders. 
The confusion of not fully belonging anywhere.

And something unexpected happened.

People reached out. Lots of them.

"I feel exactly the same way."
"I thought I was the only one."
"This is my story too."

My DMs filled with messages from people living between cultures, building careers in countries that weren't home, trying to figure out where they fit.

The vulnerability I was scared to show became the thing that connected me to my people.

Podcast invitations started coming in.

Not because I had all the answers. 

Because I was willing to talk about the questions no one else was asking.

That openness changed everything.

Your perceived weakness might be your greatest strength.

It's the exact reason your people will find you.

Own it or stay invisible.
