I'm thrilled to share that I've contributed to "Legal Operations in the Age of AI and Data," published by Globe Law and Business Ltd. This book, the brain child of Humira Noorestani, edited by Olga V. Mack and Memme Onwudiwe, explores the processes needed to run a successful legal operations team, starting with technology.

In my chapter, "One general counsel, two federal investigations, and an absence of legal technology," I share my experience acting as General Counsel while handling two massive, multi-year federal investigations in the absence of legal technology. Legal technology is essential for companies to provide to their legal operations teams to ensure their legal teams are prepared to "fight," without both hands tied behind their backs.

Each chapter, written by leading industry experts from the world of legal tech, builds upon the 12 core areas of the Corporate Legal Operations Consortium (CLOC) and combines both theory and practice. As a Chief Legal Officer, I spearheaded several projects involving multi-million-dollar lawsuits and worked diligently to ensure all business policies and procedures followed FDCPA, FCRA, FCPA, GLBA, TILA, HIPAA, and all other applicable laws and regulations. I worked directly with executive management and the Board of Directors to provide legal and compliance metrics to ensure appropriate and strategic measures were always taken. I developed a state-by-state analysis of the laws and regulations which affect the company and directed my team to keep these records updated as changes in state laws occurred. In addition to leading my direct team I also managed the centralized bankruptcy department for the company and worked closely with all departments within the company, including human resources to ensure compliance in every facet of the organization. In my role I had 300 direct reports and acted as the co-CEO for ten months of my tenure.

Tara has one son Christian.  She treasures time with her family and loves to watch her son play football. Tara has completed her first book, entitled, “Take Off that Mask, Life Ain’t No Masquerade Ball”, detailing her personal journey from a failed suicide attempt to thriving and living with joy, love and kindness.
