I wouldn’t usually keep asking BUT: 

This job market has defeated me. 

It’s been a long 5+ years with no job or income since I was made redundant from my full time position as a Retail Assistant in a kitchen shop in August 2020. 

I’ve tried so hard to find work and have applied to 2k+ jobs since. 

I’ve had about 2-3 handfuls of interviews in that time, a ton of rejections and more applications have been completely ignored than ever. 

This experience has made me feel lost and overwhelmed, frustrated and upset. 

I have a dream to start my own online creative business and I AM taking steps towards that, however, I know overnight success is unlikely and therefore, I believe I still need to find work alongside starting. 

I never expected to be unemployed for so long and I’m extremely worried about everything. 

I’ve kept applying to paid jobs even when I’ve felt like giving up. 

I’ve put in the effort. 
I’ve done the interviews. 

And I’ve nothing to show for it… 

So here I am, letting you know that I’m still very much open to work. 

I’m open to WFH positions in social media, community management or admin support for creative start-ups.

In late 2014, I was inspired to start a membership association for plant-based food companies. Having spent many years researching and writing about how the meat and dairy industries organize their political power through collective action, I set about to organize the emerging plant-based foods industry so that it too could have a voice in Washington DC and in state capitols. After over a year of organizing and planning, in early 2016, my vision became a reality when I launched the Plant Based Foods Association. While I am no longer with the association, I will always be its founder. You cannot erase history.

Under my leadership, PBFA grew to over 300 members with lobbyists at the federal and state levels defending our members' First Amendment rights. I also created and founded PBFA's "sister" organization, the C-3 arm that is now called the Plant Based Foods Institute.

My role at this alcohol industry watchdog was to conduct research to expose Big Alcohol's marketing and lobbying tactics and promote sound policies to prevent alcohol harm. My reports have included: Alcohol, Energy Drinks and Youth: A Dangerous Mix (which has to investigations by state attorneys general, and ultimate action by FDA), Why Big Alcohol Can't Police Itself: A Review of Advertising Self-Regulation in the Distilled Spirits Industry; Beer Duopoly: A Primer for Policymakers and Regulators, and Out-of-Home Alcohol Advertising: A 21st Century Guide to Effective Regulation.

Having experienced a severe form of covert abuse that left me traumatized, I understand workplace abuse from personal experience. I help employees exit a toxic workplace and get to safety and recovery as soon as possible. I offer sliding scale fees to make legal services more accessible to everyone. 

I am also passionate about changing laws and policies surrounding NDAs and other employer attempts to silence workers. I support any employee who wants the freedom to tell her story of workplace abuse. I have ongoing trauma from not being able to tell my own story fully, and I know many other women who are similarly suffering. Employer psychological violence is rampant and must stop.

For food companies, I offer my services as an ombuds, providing an independent safe space for employees to share their challenges and get them resolved peacefully.

I have spent most of my career in the food movement, calling out BS of mega-food companies. In 2006, I published a book called Appetite for Profit that exposed food industry BS. From 2014-2020, I conceived of, organized, founded, and led the Plant Based Foods Association, the nation's first and only membership trade association for plant-based food companies.

Returning to me my roots of calling out food industry BS, I now write about the "food tech" and plant-based food sectors. Food has a critical role to play in just about every aspect of society: our health, the planet, how we treat workers and animals, not to mention, our very survival. My guiding principle is integrity. There is so much bullshit being shoveled that it's distracting us from what's really going on and how to fix it.

Last but not least, as a white woman of privilege, I am learning to help bring down white supremacy; I believe that white women need to do the hard work of looking inside ourselves to undo the harms we have engaged in through acts of commission and omission and chart a better course.
