Does Google penalise pages for bad title tags?

Short answer: no.

Google has clarified that it does not have a “bad title” algorithm or filter that suppresses pages just because the titles are poorly written.

In summary:

→ Google does not penalise sites simply for writing poor titles
→ The title shown in search is not always taken from the page’s <title> tag
→ Changing a title tag does not guarantee the SERP title will update

Titles still matter, but the bigger issue is relevance and how well the title reflects the page.

Should you disavow bad backlinks?

Short answer: it depends.

Google says most sites don’t need to use the disavow tool because its systems already ignore many spammy links automatically.

But that doesn’t mean the tool is useless.

If you’re dealing with large volumes of obvious spam links or manipulative link patterns, disavowing can still make sense.

So for most sites, bad backlinks are usually ignored.

For some sites, especially in clear spam situations, disavowing can still be helpful.

"I don't have time for LinkedIn."

I hear this from agency owners every single week.

And I get it. You're deep in client work. You're managing a team. You're putting out fires. LinkedIn feels like a luxury you don't have bandwidth for.

But here's what I've learned working with agency founders for the past 18 months:

The ones who "don't have time" for LinkedIn are the same ones complaining about inconsistent pipelines 6 months later.

I worked with an SEO agency owner who told me the exact same thing. He was running a full-stack Digital PR agency, doing great work, had zero LinkedIn presence.

He didn't have time. And that was the whole point.

We took it off his plate entirely.

Profile rewrite. 
Content strategy. 
Lead magnet creation. 
Outreach campaigns. 
Inbox management. 

All of it.

He kept doing what he was good at. We handled the rest.

But content alone doesn't fill a pipeline.

If you're a B2B founder and your LinkedIn is either silent or not generating pipeline, this is what we solve.

Unpopular opinion: no matter how well you train an AI SDR it will never be better than humans.

I've seen a lot of posts around AI SDRs the past couple of weeks. 

Lead magnets getting huge traction from companies and their paid creators selling multiple daily booked calls from the agents.

AI has its uses on outreach. 

But I'm yet to see and, ultimately, be convinced that these AI agents can be as natural in conversation as a human.

People smell the AI a mile away.

So don't believe the hype.

"We're nearly at max capacity. So I'm looking at brand awareness more than generating tons of leads."

This is what an agency CEO told me last week.

And it's a problem I see all the time with successful agencies.

You grow through referrals. You build a strong reputation in your market. You get to the point where you don't need to prospect.

Then you hit a ceiling.

You're maxed out on capacity. You can't take on more clients without hiring. But you need to be selective about who you work with next.

This is when your personal brand matters most.

Because when you're maxed out, the quality of inbound leads becomes everything.

You don't want 50 inquiries from 10k clients.
You want 5 inquiries from 100k clients.
That's where CEO-led content comes in.

It filters your market.

It attracts bigger fish who want to work with leadership, not just your team.

It positions you as the authority, not just another agency.

This CEO gets it.

He said: "People deal with someone when they know who the CEO is."

But he's been too busy running the business to build that profile.

And his team can't do it for him because they're scared of making mistakes.

So nothing happens.

If you're running an agency or consultancy and you're choosing between brand awareness and lead generation, you're asking the wrong question.

Build the brand and the right leads follow.

Commission-only models don't work in the long term. And never will. 

They attract desperation.

I get asked at least 3 times per week about doing a commission only model. And I get it, people have been burned before.

Or tried other marketing initiatives that didn't work out. 

But think about what you're incentivizing when you tell a marketer "you only eat when I close a deal."

You're telling them to take shortcuts.

Spam 500 people a day with copy-paste templates. 
Scrape every list they find. 
Blast cold emails with clickbait subject lines. 
Say anything to get someone on a call, even if that person is completely unqualified.

Because their rent depends on speed, not quality.

Nobody on a commission-only deal is going to spend 3 weeks testing messaging angles.

Nobody is going to build a proper ICP framework.

Nobody is going to refine outreach sequences over 60 days until the positioning is dialed in.

They're going to do whatever gets a result this week. Even if it burns your brand in the process.

And here's the bigger issue.

Commission-only tells the person you hired that you don't believe in what they do.

You're saying "I don't trust marketing enough to invest in it. So prove it works for free and I'll pay you after."

That's not a partnership. 

That's an audition where the performer also has to build the stage, write the script, and sell the tickets.

You're handing someone a blank canvas with zero paint budget and saying "create a masterpiece by Friday or you're gone."

Good luck finding Picasso on those terms.

The best marketers, the ones who will build you a system that compounds over 6, 12, 18 months, won't touch a commission-only deal. 

They don't need to. 

They have clients who understand that real marketing takes time, testing, and trust.

So who does commission-only attract?

The person with no other options.
And that person is going to cut every corner to survive.

Your brand pays the price. Your reputation pays the price. Your prospects get burned by cheap tactics and your name is attached to all of it.

Good marketing requires three things commission-only kills on day one:

1. Time to test what works
2. Freedom to prioritize quality over speed

This Claude Opus outreach campaign on LinkedIn is the biggest load of BS I’ve seen.

And that’s saying something. 

Good campaign, it must be said.

They’ve flooded every feed with sensationalist claims. 

Algorithm is loving it.

People biting the hook.

Don’t fall for it.

What signal-based outreach looks like in practice:

Old way: 
→ Search LinkedIn for CEOs at SaaS companies 
→ Send "Hi Michael, I noticed your work at XY Corp" 
→ Get ignored

New way: 
→ Find that XY just raised a Series A last month 
→ Message Michael about what usually happens after a raise — visibility expectations, investor pressure, founder brand 
→ He replies: "yeah, we've actually been thinking about that"

Same tool. Same platform but a completely different result.

The difference is the input.

When you give AI a name and a job title, you get a template.

When you give it a name, a signal, and the problem the signal implies, you get a conversation starter.

Reply rates go up. Meeting quality goes up. And you stop wasting time on the 97% who were never going to care.

If you speak to any actual GTM tech person, they'll tell you in about 5 seconds that all of these posts are click bait.

It still requires some degree of tech-savviness to be truly dangerous today, but the era of the "idea guy" is definitely upon us.

I grew a business from zero to $20k+ per month in <12 months just through LinkedIn. 

No ads. No cold email  (with exception of 2 months) and no magic funnel.

Not everyone will be able to do it for their business. 

But there's 4 simple steps to follow and you can increase your revenue at the very least. 

1. Fix your profile. Your headline isn't a job title and more a billboard. Tell people exactly who you help and what result you deliver. If a stranger lands on your profile and doesn't know what you do in 5 seconds, you're losing money.

2. Post 3x per week. One post about a client win. One post teaching something useful. One post sharing your opinion on something in your industry. Mix value with personality, and don't be afraid to be contrarian. 

3. Send 5 DMs a day. Not "Hey, love your content" messages. Real conversations. Comment on their recent post first. Then message them referencing it. People respond to people who pay attention. Find buying signals and structure your outreach around that.

4. Follow up. DO NOT BE AFRAID TO FOLLOW UP. Most founders send one message, hear nothing, and quit. The second message is where deals happen. A simple "Hey, saw you're still working on X, want to chat?" works better than any sales script. 

LinkedIn isn't complicated.

Yes, it's got spammy as shit. However, it's still a goldmine if you do it right. 

But most people overcomplicate it because they'd rather tweak their strategy than do the boring work.

Or let ChatGPT write their content and tell them what to do. 

Pick these 4 steps. Do them for 90 days straight. Watch what happens.
