I am a marketing leader who wants to build cool things, tell cool stories about those things, and do it with cool people. 

When I think about my favorite moments in my career, they are all centered around building something new with a group of smart people and we’re all thinking through how we’re going to make the thing in front of us work as best as possible for the given use case. Over the years, I built things that I would use myself (or did use myself);  I loved sharing the excitement over that thing with others. Even better was building things that drove demonstrable value for our clients. There is nothing better than marketing a product that gets me excited about the way it can be used and about the problems it solves. This is why I like startups so much! I really enjoy the creative process from the initial marketing strategy to marketing execution and how I get to go back and forth between the 50’ and the 50,000’ view.
 
For me, building also means building teams. I have been so fortunate to have built amazing teams over the years. I am proud to have built a large network of people and it brings me so much joy to see how their careers have grown since our time together. I am the type of leader that cares more about my teams success than my own. I want to help my teams become better and I believe that if my team members grow, the company’s goals will fall into place.
 
I want to bring a product to market that delivers measurable value. I need to do all of this with smart people who challenge me and push me to be better. Marketing is storytelling with an objective. I love bringing ideas to market and telling a story to someone about how the offering we have is going to not only solve their immediate problem but also help them take advantage of new opportunities in the future. I’ve been doing this my whole career, and it is something I must continue doing.

Developed user acceptance testing (UAT) and change management strategy for custom web application aligned on hyper-local demand planning of low volume / high value goods, supporting digital strategy for luxury fashion and beauty retailer:
− Created testing deliverables using SQL, customer + stakeholder data, product analytics, and competitor benchmarking.
− Coached senior leadership through application adoption by communicating value proposition using high level FAQs, client training workshops, and business use cases. Program mobilized and re-deployed ~$55M of idle inventory.

Partnered with executives, client teams, and optimization experts, delivering digital strategy for CPG food manufacturer:
− Analyzed and interpreted product redeployment and customer data, evaluating root cause(s) for multiple deployments.
− Designed advanced analytics dashboard using Tableau and robotic process automation (RPA) that advised stakeholders on weekly inventory redeployment actions, uncovering process bottle necks that increased production efficiency by 11%.

Worked with SMEs, designers, and client stakeholders on variety of healthcare & life science industry strategic initiatives:
− Developed IBM’s internal staff augmentation business strategy for large pharmaceutical client’s workforce planning, resulting in 12 resources staffed. Filled in key skill gaps within client’s organization that led to ~$2M in savings.
− Spearheaded 10+ business opportunities, performed value stream mapping, and outlined new customer experiences.

Joined with US Dept. of Defense Combat Vehicle Prototype team and performed armored vehicle requirements analysis:
− Developed Whole Systems Trade Analysis model with 10 functional objectives, leading to ~$1.2B in client initiatives.

Business Analyst & Advanced Engineering Intern

Michigan Department of Transportation

Implemented a creative solution to catalog and map trees along roadways for removal. Using linear programming, he developed a plan to effectively remove over 1000 dying trees within budget constraints. Also inspected and reviewed 150+ permits and documented field observations, including Right of Way.

He was previously a Senior Analyst and BizOps Associate at UPLAND Foresight + Strategy + Innovation, a boutique consulting firm focused on market research, growth/brand strategy, and helping clients identify future disruption in their industry.  He is also a recent MSE Graduate from the University of Michigan where he studied Entrepreneurship and Industrial Engineering.  Prior to graduate school, he was on a medical leave of absence from his role as a Senior Business Analyst with LEARN Behavioral. Additionally, Mr. Coutteau graduated from the University of Michigan with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering with a major in Industrial & Operations Engineering. He also graduated from Albion College with a Bachelor of Arts with a major in Physics, a minor in Applied Mathematics, and a concentration in Public Policy & Leadership. Mr. Coutteau is also a Cleared Professional (Secret Security Level) valid until 2025.
