"Meta ads doesn't work for B2B" - client

90 days later, $800K in new business pipeline from Meta.

It's like anything in life. It's not what you do, but it's how you do it.
 
Here's what we found actually works for Meta ads in B2B at AdConversion.

1/ CRM Lookalike Audiences 

The secret to Meta for B2B is high-quality data. Upload your best customers to Meta and build 1-2% lookalikes. Be intentional with your source data. 

Segment by win rates and industries. Feed Meta the cream of the crop.

Start with 1% lookalikes. Confirm audience quality. Then scale to 2%.

2/ Third-Party Data Providers

If your CRM data is limited, tap into providers that let you build targeting for Meta. We're seeing strong results with Primer (not sponsored).

Build firmographic and technographic audiences. Upload to Meta. Target directly or build lookalikes from those lists.

This is especially powerful for ABM outside of LinkedIn 

3/ Creative Concept Iterations

Meta lives and dies by creative, especially now with Andromeda, targeting becomes more AI-driven and broad, your creative does the heavy lifting.

Three questions for every ad:
• Does the design support the message?
• Is the design clear, legible, and attention-grabbing for the placement?
• Does the copy create urgency and drive action?

The biggest mistake: testing micro changes (blue vs green button) instead of dramatically different concepts. Test completely different looks, feels, and messaging angles.

4/ Custom Lead Forms with Friction

Lead forms consistently outconvert landing pages for B2B on Meta.

But you need to add strategic friction to combat "social amnesia" - when people forget they even filled out your form.

Use work email validation. Add custom qualification questions. Example: "What's your current monthly ad budget?" with multiple choice options.

This pre-qualifies traffic and makes the conversion more memorable.

5/ Broad Targeting (Yes, Really)

Controversial, but hear me out. Meta's algorithm keeps getting better at finding your buyers. Broad targeting works if:

• You're NOT doing account-based marketing
• You have a large TAM (SMB or mid-market)
• Your creative explicitly calls out who it's for (and who it's NOT for)

Your creative becomes mosquito repellent. If they're not your ICP, they won't engage. Meta learns from engagement signals and serves accordingly.

But on a serious note it’s definitely not the easiest, or fastest path.

I think it’s easy to be afraid of big goals, because we measure our ability to achieve it in relation with who we currently are.

The skill sets, and experiences we’ve gathered up until this very moment.

In my experience, this is a huge mistake.

Business is a lifelong sport and you’ll continue to uplevel along the way, especially when you have a big purpose driving you. 

I’ve made so many mistakes with AdConversion so far, and trying to make fewer with Sami, but it’s inevitable.

I’m really grateful that I took a bet on myself, and started with a big vision and goal.

The clarity it’s given in my decision making, and stubborness to not succumb to short-term distractions has been worth it.

I guess what I’m trying to say is, don’t be afraid to bet on yourself, and dream big.

I automated $342,320/month in LinkedIn Ads spend using Sami 🔥

Here are the workflows I created ⤵️

ℹ️ Quick context = this was for a big account I'm managing at AdConversion 

This account spends over $3M/month in ad spend, they've got 7 motions, and are focused on video, TLA, and static ads. 

I built SAMs (workflows) to optimize performance and protect budgets: 

1/ Budget Protection

7 SAMs created, 1 per persona as we have dedicated budgets for each. 

Once we reach 80% of our budget we'll get notified directly in Slack, and finally once we reach 97% of our monthly budget all ads will get paused. 

^ This means I don't ever have to worry about overspending. 

2/ Ongoing Maintenance 

These campaigns are focused on TOFU so our primary KPI is engagement rate. 

I built one SAM per ad format as we have independent goals for each. 

Engagement rates vary overtime so what I did was use an average metric. 

📐(Engagement Rate < AVG Engagement Rate) AND (Impressions > 1000)

^ This looks over the past 30 days and notifies me of underperformers

You’re not the same person at 3AM as you are at 9AM, the same is true for your prospects. 

Buying behaviors change during times of day, and days of week but instead of optimizing for this most of us are wasting budget trying to show ads to everyone at all times.

This is even MORE important for accounts with smaller budgets, by setting up an “Ad Schedule” you can stretch your tiny budget even further to drive better results. 
‍
For example, imagine you had a $3,000/month budget 💰

• 30 days = $100/day (Monday-Sunday) 
• 20 days = $150/day (Monday-Friday) 
‍
That’s a 50% increase in daily budget by concentrating across 5 days instead of 7. 
‍
Now let’s look at the distribution by time for a daily budget of $100:

• 24hrs = $4.16/hr 
• 8hrs = $12.5/hr 
‍
That’s a 200% increase in daily budget by hour by concentrating across 8 instead of 24. 
‍
This also assumes your budget is spread evenly across every hour of the day. If you’ve run ads before, you know that isn’t how it actually works 😅
‍
Most budgets are gone by 12PM, leaving the rest of the day with zero impressions and zero reach, which is why ad scheduling is so important. 
‍
This Sami automation will create an ad schedule that pauses ads at the end of the day, and re-enable them in the morning the next day.

We scaled a B2B SaaS client from $0 to $20K/day on YouTube in 90 days. 

Here's how we proved it was actually working ⤵️ 

1/ Search Lift Studies

You can run a study inside of Google Ads to measure search lift. 
 
Our client saw a 45% lift in branded searches with 90%+ certainty. We could even break down which specific videos drove the most lift.
 
Now we optimize for incremental brand awareness, not just view rates.
 
Unfortunately, you do need a minimum of $10-15K per study.
 

2/ Brand Lift Studies

Similar to search lift studies difference here is a survey. 
 
You create a pre-set survey to measure ad recall or purchase intent. 

Google will serve this study to users and collect responses to measure lift. 

We ran an ad recall study against competitors and saw a 2% increase in people remembering our ads versus competitors.
 
Minimum budget: $10-15K per study.
 

3/ Self-Reported Attribution
 
Add "How did you hear about us?" to your forms.
 
When more people start selecting "YouTube" or mentioning it in open responses, you know it's working.
 
This is the easiest proof point to implement immediately.
 

4/ Direct & View-Through Conversions
 
Yes, YouTube can drive direct conversions. It's not common, but it happens.
 
View-through conversions are more telling. These measure people who saw your ad, didn't click, but later came back and converted.
 
Combined with self-reported data, this builds a strong case for YouTube's influence.


5/ Unexplainable Surges
 
Your team says: "We got a massive spike in demos and we have no idea where they came from." Or: "Direct traffic is way up this month."
 
That's YouTube compounding. It's slow at first, then momentum builds as more people see your ads and recall increases.

 
6/ Closing thoughts
 
YouTube for B2B doesn't work like Facebook or LinkedIn. You won't see immediate last-click conversions, unless you have a strong offer. 
 
But it drives brand awareness that converts through other channels. The key is measuring that influence, not just last-click attribution.

50% of your campaigns will fail in the launch phase. Another 25% will die in maintenance. Here's the lifecycle no one explains ⤵️
 
Most marketers think scaling means:
"Launch more campaigns and increase budget."
 
The reality is way messier.
 
Every campaign you launch goes through 3 distinct phases, and most die before they ever scale 🥲 let me show you what actually happens:
 
𝗣𝗵𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝟭: 𝗟𝗮𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗵 (𝗪𝗮𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗦𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗦𝗶𝘇𝗲)
 
You launch 6 campaigns. Each needs a clear goal.
 
Example: Drive conversions for less than $500 CPA.
 
The logic: If cost > $500 and conversions < 1, the campaign gets paused.
 
Result: 3 campaigns survive. 3 get killed for poor performance.
 
50% failure rate in launch is normal. But most marketers let underperformers bleed budget for weeks because they don't have clear kill criteria.
 
𝗣𝗵𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝟮: 𝗠𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 (𝗢𝗻𝗴𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁)
 
Your 3 surviving campaigns enter maintenance mode.
 
Now you're constantly assessing: Can these campaigns maintain performance at this spend level?
 
The logic: If CPA > $500, flag it. If it continues underperforming, pause it.
 
This isn't a one-time check. It's continuous monitoring to catch wasted spend before it costs you thousands.

Your campaigns survived maintenance. Now you're eligible to scale.
 
Best performing CPA? Increase budget and bids. Worst performing CPA? Decrease budget and bids.
 
Then back to maintenance phase to assess if they can sustain performance at the new spend level.
 
What happens next? One campaign can't handle the increased budget. CPA spikes. Gets paused.
 
Another continues underperforming. Gets paused.
 
One winner scales further. Rinse and repeat.
