I worked as a research assistant for Rijkswaterstaat, the Dutch executive agency for public works and water management. My main task was to conduct a research project on how to scale the use of second hand furniture in the Netherlands to bolster sustainability in the industry.

The research project involved:

- Reviewing the literature on the environmental and social benefits of second hand furniture, as well as the barriers and drivers for its adoption by consumers and businesses.

- Conducting interviews and surveys with various stakeholders, such as furniture manufacturers, retailers, resellers, refurbishers, NGOs, and customers.

- Analyzing the data and identifying the best practices, opportunities, and challenges for scaling the use of second hand furniture in the Netherlands.

- Developing recommendations and strategies for Rijkswaterstaat and other relevant actors to promote and facilitate the circular economy of furniture.

The research project was a valuable learning experience for me, as I gained insights into the complex and dynamic system of furniture production and consumption, and the potential for circular solutions to reduce waste and emissions, while creating social and economic value. I also improved my skills in research design, data collection and analysis, report writing, and stakeholder engagement.

I enjoyed working with a diverse and motivated team of researchers, consultants, and experts from Rijkswaterstaat and other organizations. I am grateful for the opportunity to contribute to this important and innovative project.

Het is zichtbaarheid zonder klik.

Want steeds vaker krijgt je doelgroep het antwoord al op de zoekresultatenpagina zelf, via featured snippets, AI overzichten, knowledge panels of directe antwoorden. Dat noemen we een zero-click search: antwoorden die verschijnen, nog voor er een klik is gemaakt.  

Dat klinkt misschien als slecht nieuws voor websites die vertrouwen op clicks als succes maatstaf… maar het is vooral een uitnodiging om je strategie opnieuw te definiëren.

De realiteit is veranderd.
De gebruiker wil direct antwoord.
En zoekmachines leveren dat.
Zonder door te klikken.  

In deze nieuwe wereld draait SEO niet alleen om ranking of traffic.
Het gaat om zichtbaarheid, autoriteit en context:
        •        vind je plek in featured snippets en AI overviews
        •        verstrek je waardevolle antwoorden binnen de zoekresultaten
        •        zorg je dat jouw content wordt geciteerd als de betrouwbare bron
        •        en bouw je aan herkenning, zelfs als er geen klik volgt  

Ik geloof erin dat SEO vandaag niet meer draait om clicks alleen.
Het gaat om zichtbaar zijn waar je doelgroep zoekt, ook als ze niet klikken.
Dat vraagt om een aanpak die verder gaat dan traditionele optimalisatie.

Want als jouw merk in het antwoord staat, zien mensen je voordat ze klikken.

𝗔𝗜 𝗶𝘀 𝗻𝗶𝗲𝘁 𝗱𝗲 𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗼𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴!

Ik hoor het overal: AI dit, AI dat. Contentstrategieën worden herschreven, termen als semantiek en embeddings vliegen je om de oren. En ja, AI verandert veel, dat ontken ik absoluut niet.

Maar wat me opvalt in de praktijk: het overgrote deel van het organisch verkeer komt nog steeds gewoon uit de ‘klassieke’ zoekresultaten. Geen magie, geen hype. Gewoon Google.

En juist daar laten veel organisaties kansen liggen. Terwijl iedereen vooruit kijkt, blijven simpele SEO fundamenten vaak liggen. Denk aan betere titels, het actualiseren van bestaande content, of het versnellen van een website. Dat soort aanpassingen lijken klein, maar leveren in verhouding vaak verrassend veel op.

Natuurlijk moet je AI volgen en meenemen in je strategie. Maar wat vandaag werkt, moet je niet laten liggen omdat het minder sexy klinkt.

Ik ben benieuwd: waar ligt bij jou nu de grootste winst om je vindbaarheid direct te verbeteren?
