A major university just turned AI into a graduation requirement.

Not an elective. Not a “nice-to-have.” A requirement. 

Purdue’s Board of Trustees approved a new “AI working competency” for all undergrads, starting with incoming students in Fall 2026. 

The interesting part: it’s not one generic AI course.

They’re planning to bake it into each discipline, with program-specific standards... without adding extra credit hours. 

Read that again.

Universities are building the assumption that “AI fluent” is baseline... like email, Excel, or Google Docs used to be.

That changes the opportunity cost for everyone else:

If you wait until it’s “official” in your industry, you’ll be late.

If you treat AI like a side hobby, you’ll keep losing hours to tasks a machine can compress into minutes.

If your competitor learns to use + judge + deploy AI, your work starts to look slow... no matter how talented you are.

Skeptical take: a requirement doesn’t guarantee real skill. It can easily become a checkbox.

But the signal is still loud: the baseline is moving.

My personal definition of AI competency (the one that actually pays):

1. Use AI daily inside your real workflow (writing, research, analysis, ops).

2. Learn verification: source checks, assumptions, failure modes.

3. Build small leverage loops: templates, agents, automation... so you ship faster with fewer people.

What I'm trying to say is, when AI becomes a graduation requirement, it’s already a career requirement.

Most solopreneurs don’t lose to competition.

They lose to subscription creep.

month after month, you keep paying for “leverage” you could’ve owned.

That’s why I treat AI tools and "tools" in general, as an opportunity-cost decision, not a monthly expense.

Because every month you delay:

- you lose hours you could’ve saved
- you ship slower than the market
- you stay dependent on people you can’t hire yet
- you keep paying rent for the same capability

I’m a big fan of lifetime deals for one reason:

They don’t just save money.
They buy back time.

And as a solopreneur, time is the only advantage you can compound.

Renting leverage is the slowest way to grow. Own it, and compound it.

Orphea 4D makes insecticide spray for outdoors.

Their problem?

It's almost impossible to prove your product works when the whole point is killing bugs you can't see in open air.

So they launched this campaign back in 2013.

They turned a billboard into a giant insect trap.

Their team applied transparent glue to certain areas of the billboard in the shape of a spray jet. Invisible to humans but irresistible to bugs. They set it up in one of the busiest areas in Milan and let nature do the work.

🚨 In 1930, Keynes predicted we'd all work 15-hour weeks by 2030.

Spoiler alert: I cracked the code early.

After 10 years of 80-hour weeks, missed life moments, and "sorry, I'm busy."
