With over 25 years of cross-functional expertise spanning technology, strategy, and innovation, I’ve consistently been at the forefront of digital industry practices. From being one of the first 100 employees at Netflix, where I pioneered the first content management role, to founding [meta]marketer, one of the earliest digital strategy and analytics agencies, and developing Toshiba America’s first intranet, my work has spanned data analytics, IoT, machine learning, and agentic AI—always mindful of how each wave of tech can go wrong, while primarily focused on how they can be used to create meaningful, scalable human experiences.

This morning I had the privilege of keynoting General Mills' mid-year leadership meeting in Minneapolis, and they sent me home with something I never imagined I'd see: my own Wheaties box. (Yes, that's really me on "The Breakfast of Champions.")

But the real champions were in that room. Jeff Harmening, their CEO, set the tone with the kind of self-deprecating wisdom and genuine curiosity that's surprisingly rare at that level. He also did something even rarer: given our setting in Minneapolis, in his opening remarks, he acknowledged the recent ICE raids — including, as the news is reporting today, at a General Mills facility — and spoke directly about centering the humanity and safety of employees in a moment of division and fear. That kind of courage, to name what's happening and lead with values rather than silence, is what true leadership looks like.

CFO Kofi Bruce brought an energy and warmth (and style!) that reminded me the best leaders make everyone around them better. And let me tell you, here's what made this engagement special from the start: a month ago, when Jano Cabrera kicked off our briefing call, he opened with "they say never meet your heroes, but I think this is going to be the exception to the rule." When a client leads with that kind of generosity of spirit and excitement about working together — before you've even taken the stage — it creates the conditions for something meaningful to happen.

We spent our time together exploring how they're navigating AI implementation, supply chain transformation, and new ways of working at scale — not with breathless hype or fearful hedging, but with the kind of strategic optimism that asks: how do we make technology-enabled decisions that serve humans first?

Grateful to Mandy (Moraca) Lubrano Lavadera and Janna Earhart at AAE Speakers Bureau for connecting us, and to the team at Kindle Communications for their meticulous care in making this event work for everyone. When the logistics are handled with that level of attention, everyone can focus on what matters — the conversation itself.

Sometimes the standing ovation isn't the most meaningful feedback. 

Sometimes it's leaders staying after to ask one more question, or sending you home with a gesture that says "you belong on the box."
