Honestly, there's nothing cooler in this world than building a company with people you:

Trust blindly.
Have the best conversations with, even outside of work.
Go to festivals with.
Play Austrian card games for money with.
Fly to Disneyland Paris with.
Support when things get rough.

And on top of all that, you're building something truly exceptional together. A company that started in Berlin and is now crushing it in the US.

What blows my mind most:

Everyone who knows these guys knows how mature they are. Their integrity is on a completely different level.

In the past I had some hard times and these guys had my back completely, they told me to focus on myself, take the time I need, get better.

In most companies, when a founder struggles, people start positioning, politics, backstabbing. Not here.

That's what real friendship looks like in business.

10 years ago, I was bad at pretty much everything.

Subpar friend. Terrible style. Ate whatever was convenient. Didn't work out. Had no real business knowledge.

And yet, you don't need much time to get decent at most things.

Like the gym - only 20% of adults have active memberships, and half of those don't go regularly. If you show up twice a week, you're already top 10%.

Two hours a week.

This pattern works everywhere:

Looks: Spend 30 minutes a week learning about style and what actually fits you. You'll look better than 90% of people.

Nutrition: Learn the basics of what your body actually needs. You're ahead of most people who just eat whatever.

Business: Read one book a month about your field. Most people stop learning after they start working.

Friendships: Actually show up. Call people back. Remember what matters to them. That alone puts you in rare territory.

Nothing crazy, right?

Just putting in a little bit of consistent effort in each area gets you ahead of most people.

I'm not exceptional at any of these, but I'm (getting) decent at all of them now. And being decent at 5-6 things beats being great at one thing and terrible at everything else.

My lesson:

You can't be above average at everything. But you can pick 3-4 areas and get decent with small, consistent effort.

We try to learn too much at once.

Business, health, relationships, finances - we want to get better at everything simultaneously.

Then we wonder why nothing actually sticks.

A while ago, I started thinking in seasons instead.

Every quarter, I pick 1-3 things to go deep on.

A week is too short to really change anything.

A month is better.

But in a quarter you can actually become good at something.

My last season:

Product Discovery - How to choose the right features to build instead of just building everything.

Nervous System - Understanding how my body holds suppressed emotions and how to actually release them. Learning how to entirely change how to see, feel & think about the world.

Now each season, I go deep.

- Read everything
- Talk to experts
- Experiment daily

Then I move on to the next thing.

The skills compound but the focus stays narrow.

Next quarter will be something completely different.

Way more progress this way than trying to do everything at once.

I've hit rock bottom so many times I lost count.

The kind of low where you're literally lying there with nothing left in your body. Where you don't even know how you'll get through the next day.

And somehow, every single time, I still believed I'd make it out.

That belief - when you have absolutely nothing else - that's the real difference maker.

I've been there hundreds of times:

When I desperately wanted to leave Austria because I felt so out of place. Nobody believed in me.

When we crashed our first startup, Hellowins. Everyone who bet against us felt validated.

When we built our agency and poured everything into our software company (almost went insolvent), people were already counting our days.

Same goes for personal life, breakups, trauma, all of it.

There's a reason there’s this saying in Silicon Valley:

“Never bet against Elon Musk.”

He's willing to endure more pain than anyone else and he keeps coming back (doesn’t matter what you think about him, it's the principle that counts).

Everyone who's built something real knows what I'm talking about.

Every time your beaten down, your pain tolerance grows, you become capable of moving bigger mountains.

Even when you don't know how you'll get through it, the most important thing is the deepest, most honest belief in yourself. Even in the moments when you don't feel a single ounce of strength left in your body. In those moments, you see something in yourself that nobody else can see yet.

So please (as cheesy as it sounds):

Never ever stop believing in yourself. 🫶

My definition of success has completely shifted.

A few years ago, success looked like you’d expect: nice cars, expensive watches, sharp suits, big social media followings.

That was what impressed me.

Today that stuff does nothing for me.

The people I look up to now:

They love working in their company.
They have real energy.
They are kind & honest.
They actually enjoy their lives.
They've built communities around them.

Maybe this is just the natural cycle. Maslow's hierarchy playing out in real time.
You chase external validation until you realize it doesn't fill anything.

Then you start building something deeper.

I'm not saying one is better than the other, just that what impresses me has completely changed.

P.S.: I still want to own a Porsche 911 Targa one day, not to impress anyone, but because it’s the most beautiful car out there. Period.

This is how two broke 19-year-olds got one of the most beautiful offices in Berlin. It was 2014, Marco and I had just crashed our first startup.

We were starting an agency from scratch and needed a space.

So when we walked into an office in Friedrichshain, we knew immediately, “This is it.”

One problem:

We were completely broke.

The real estate agent showed us the documents we'd need and we sent over what we got.

"Sorry guys, it's not going to work. But good luck with everything."

I called her back immediately.

“Do you have the owner's contact?”

”Yes, of course, why?”

”Please do me a favor. Call him and tell him two 19-year-olds want to change the world in Berlin. We just need 10 minutes of his time - I buy you dinner!”

She called him and he agreed to meet. We pitched him everything we were planning to build. It turned out he was an entrepreneur himself.

And he got it.

Then he looked at us and said, “Guys, if you miss one rent payment, I'm throwing you out.”

We shook hands.

That was 12 years ago.
We never missed a payment.
That office became my home.

Looking back, calling her back was probably a weird move. Maybe even desperate but when you're starting with nothing, you have to try things that feel uncomfortable.

Sometimes going the extra mile is what makes the difference.

If you're in a meeting just checking emails, thinking about other stuff, only half-listening - you're wasting everyone's time, including your own. Here’s what I do now:

We've all done it.

It feels normal.

But if you're not present, you're actively making the meeting worse.

Someone told me recently:

"Your energy as a CEO matters more than you think. If you're not bringing good energy, don't join."

It made me pay attention to my own meetings.

The meetings where I was checked out, barely present mentally, always drained me most.

So now I give every meeting a color (and I think everyone should try to do this, not just C-Level):

Green - I was fully present. Good energy. Keep doing this.
Yellow - Something felt off. What exactly bothered me? What can we change?
Red - I shouldn't be in this meeting. I'm not contributing anything meaningful.

Green meetings stay.
Yellow meetings get fixed.
Red meetings get cut.

It's simple but it changed how I spend my time.

Plus, if you're not bringing energy to something, you're just taking it from everyone else.

When I started as a founder, I had no idea what leadership actually meant. I was just trying to figure it out (by watching other CEOs, reading books and guessing)

Over the years, something shifted.

I started gaining clarity on what these roles actually mean to me.

Good leadership is actually pretty ‘simple’.

Just three things:

Inspiration - Making people believe in where we're going.
Clarity - Cutting through noise so everyone knows what matters.
Connection - Building real relationships with everyone on the team.

That's all a great leader needs to do.

I know this might sound weird, but the more I understand this, the more I feel called to become exactly this kind of leader.

I feel it's what I'm meant to do.

I'm not there yet but I know that's where I'm heading.
