With a strong background in human-centred communications and stakeholder relationship management, I design and deliver workshops and programmes for leaders who want to establish, grow, and restore trust to build stronger teams.

I originally founded Engaging People as a boutique communications and engagement consultancy. Clients included: Orion NZ, Selwyn District Council, Oha Honey, and Ko Taku Reo - Deaf Education NZ. Work included: communications strategy development; internal communication and employee engagement; strategic change communication; crisis and incident communication; and keynote speeches.

Now I'm doubling down on the foundation layer where all the comms and engagement lives or dies – leadership, culture, and how much (if any) trust is swirling around your workplace and stakeholder relationships.

Ko Taku Reo is a national organisation providing education services for Deaf and Hard of Hearing learners, from early childhood through to transition to the workforce. Enrolled students attend Deaf Bilingual (NZSL/English) Provisions hosted on site at mainstream partner schools in Auckland, Wellington, and Christchurch.

In this establishment role I led the development of internal and external communications, including shaping content and channel strategies, and provided strategic support and guidance for the organisation's involvement with the Royal Commission of Inquiry into Abuse in Care.

I was the Paper Coordinator and Lecturer for second year paper Risk and Crisis Communication (COMS232). This involved the design and delivery of all course content including weekly small group tutorials, oversight of a Graduate Tutor, assessment design and of course marking and moderation. As I came into this role from the industry rather than academia, I was able to draw on my networks to organise some amazing guest speakers for this semester, bringing theory to life.

I worked collaboratively across the Te Rūnanga Group to build relationships and deliver a range of communications for both internal and external stakeholders. I also managed the communications services team and some contractor/agency relationships during an unprecedented period of change for the wider communications group.

The wide scope of my work included strategic communications and public affairs advice to Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu, Ngāi Tahu Holdings and its subsidiaries: Ngāi Tahu Farming, Ngāi Tahu Property, Ngāi Tahu Seafood, Ngāi Tahu Tourism, Oha Honey (formerly Watson & Son).

Time and again I've seen the transformative difference made by people who can establish, grow, and restore trust – and the harm caused when trust is neglected or broken.

After 16 years working for one of the most trusted and innovative airlines in the world, I spent a decade helping leaders and organisations build trust through strategic communications – growing stakeholder relationships, managing reputational issues, engagement and change.

Now I'm working on the layer under that: team dynamics and culture. 🧠

Through workshops, consulting, and tailored development programmes, I work with leaders to improve self-awareness, enhance team cohesion, and manage crisis communications by asking the right questions and giving you the tools and practices to build and maintain trust.
