⚠️ Rant Alert (Recruiter Edition)

After 20+ years in Recruitment (on the corporate and agency side),  I recently had one of the rudest, most arrogant interactions I have experienced.

A quick reminder for anyone who is approached by a headhunter: 

💡 When a headhunter contacts you, it is not a job offer.
We reach out because there is a good chance a person's profile might align with a role.   They are being selectively considered, not chosen.  The way someone treats a recruiter tells us a lot about how they may treat others.  We notice an individual's communication from the first few minutes of a conversation.  

🤐 Confidential searches are confidential for a reason.
Sometimes a company is making internal changes that aren’t public yet. Other times, a person is being replaced quietly. When a recruiter says a search is confidential,  please respect that. Trust is everything in these partnerships.

🎯 Our loyalty is to both sides — but the client comes first.
 Our clients hire us to find the right talent, and we work tirelessly to do that. At the same time, we genuinely want our candidates to thrive and be happy in their new roles.

How a person shows up in that first phone call or interview says a lot about how they will show up in their role and with their new organization. 

On a positive note, I also had two incredible 90-minute interviews these past two days with people who were professional, thoughtful, and kind.  Proof that respect never goes out of style. 🎤
