📌 1) You stop assuming and start observing.
Instead of picking keywords in isolation, you look at how buyers actually search and ask questions on Google, Reddit, LinkedIn, forums, and AI tools. What they type, how they phrase problems, what keeps coming up. Visibility comes from understanding how people think, not from chasing one term.

📌 2) You answer questions where they already live.
When buyers ask something publicly, that’s your signal. Reddit threads, LinkedIn comments, community discussions, AI-generated answers. These are all places decisions start forming. Companies that respond in context outperform those publishing content in isolation.

📌 3) You analyse competitors beyond surface-level metrics.
Not who posts more or who has more followers, but where attention is actually coming from. Which channels drive engagement, which formats hold interest, and which spaces are still open. That’s where real opportunity sits.

📌 4) You revisit channels you left unfinished.
Search did not disappear, it expanded. Social still influences decisions. Email still moves deals forward. Lead magnets still work when they are useful. Most teams do not lose channels. They abandon them halfway.

📌 5) You design content to travel, not sit still.
One solid idea should not live once. It should show up as a post, a carousel, a long-form piece, a newsletter, and a discussion. Same thinking, multiple entry points, less wasted effort.

📌 6) You give value before asking for anything back.
Practical tools, templates, checklists, and frameworks people can use immediately. When someone gets help before they are asked to convert, trust builds naturally.

Truth be told, being a marketer, I second with Patrick Cumming..
We often confuse strategies with funnels. While there are no shortcuts and multiple touchpoints and decisions do matter, like he said, reading a blog doesn’t automatically mean that individual is TOFU.

I spent most of 2025 saying the funnel is dead.

Some agreed. Some thought I was rage-baiting.

Now that I've analyzed our data from last year, I'm more convinced than ever: funnel-based thinking is actively hurting marketers.

Here's why:

1) Buyers don't follow your funnel stages

80% of buyers (per Wynter research) go with brands they've already heard of, then only research those brands. Many skip research entirely and just reach out.

Your content shouldn't map to funnel stages. It should associate your brand with category entry points so prospects think of you when they're ready to buy.

2) You don't need months to "nurture" prospects

This myth lets marketers dodge revenue accountability.

In November, we targeted a completely cold audience and generated 8 qualified inbound leads with under $5K in media spend.

Familiarity builds trust. High reach and frequency campaigns build familiarity fast.

3) You can't tell who's at what stage anyway

Someone liking your LinkedIn post doesn't make them TOFU. Reading your blog doesn't make them MOFU.

Building TOFU/MOFU/BOFU campaign structures based on guesses wastes budget.

The reality: prospects are either in-market or out-market. Your job is to be remembered by the first group and chosen by the second.

4) Funnel stages don't help you plan content

Base content on pains, gains, and jobs to be done instead.

If it's interesting and helpful, prospects won't care if you include soft CTAs and product info. You can do "TOFU" and "BOFU" in the same piece.

Stop mapping content to imaginary funnel stages. Focus on being remembered when it matters and chosen when buyers are ready.
