Custom vs. Stock
I just bought an old Mustang GT today from a dealership in Utah. And yes, I live in Florida. You might ask why I’d pay for shipping when there are plenty of neon green, vanilla ice, mid-life-crisis Mustangs right here at home. Simple: I didn’t buy the car. I bought the platform.
It’s got all the factory options I wanted: the 5.0 engine, the 6-speed manual transmission, and only 11,000 miles. But here’s the thing: I’m not leaving it stock. I’m going to customize it for my 12-year-old-son when he turns 16. I’m adding front and rear spoilers, blacked out wheels, a cold air intake and a BOSS 302 intake manifold. I’ll throw in modern electronics, cameras, and if I get sophisticated…maybe a supercharger. None of these are Ford parts, but together they’ll create something unique. Oh and I'm not mechanical, so I'm going to need someone to build it for me. Something that fits my needs.
