In 2012, I completed 15 years in the corporate world.

Life was fast-paced, intense—18-hour workdays, back-to-back meetings, and constantly juggling projects.

Then, one week later, everything changed.

The pressure finally broke me. I ended up spending two weeks in the hospital.

It was my wake-up call.

Within a year, I quit my job to go solo.

Project Management was my strength. So, I started helping others pass the PMP exam, using brain-friendly strategies I had mastered for myself.

For the next 8 months, I turned my notes into blog posts. I worked tirelessly, sold my house to stay afloat, and tried to build something out of nothing.

Yet, nothing seemed to work.

And then, I found Amazon.

I converted some of my blog posts into a book and self-published on Amazon. 

To my surprise, it became a #1 bestseller across 3 categories.

I went from chasing clients to clients chasing me — ready to pay hundreds of dollars for my coaching.

And that’s when I learned an important lesson:

In 2017, I took it a step further. I started posting daily on social media — content aimed at helping project managers.

By 2019, I launched my first online course.

So far, I've:

I learned this over time.

Early on, I treated work relationships like friendships.
It came from care and a real desire to be 𝘥𝘦𝘱𝘦𝘯𝘥𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘦.

So I said yes often.
Late nights.
Weekends.
Last-minute requests.

I told myself that was commitment.

What I didn’t see then was this.
When effort stays unseen, it slowly becomes 𝘦𝘹𝘱𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘦𝘥.

Not because people are careless.
Because things that feel easy stop getting talked about.

At some point, I realized I wasn’t building strong client relationships.
I was building ease 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘶𝘤𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦.

That’s when the shift happened.
I started thinking less in terms of clients, and more in terms of 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀.

Friend-mode keeps things comfortable.
But clarity keeps things from getting messy later.

This isn’t about being distant or rigid.
It’s about setting up relationships that don’t rely on guessing.

That shift changed how I work.
