This screenshot pretty much sums up the last couple of years. While it may not seem like anything's going on on the surface, it most certainly is.

I'm not posting this to get sympathy. I'm posting because it's important to shed light on what entrepreneurship can look like behind the scenes.

As much as becoming self-employed was an empowering choice, it was also a necessity.

I simply could not function working inside other people's rigid structures or environments, or alongside inflexible, insensitive people.

I needed to be able to prioritize meeting my own needs first without ever letting a spinning plate drop (my livelihood and high standards for myself).

And now that my health is worse than it has been in a long time—through no fault of my own—I'm more grateful than ever to myself for "getting there."

For making 100% of my own decisions in my life and work.
For working only with people who respect my values and needs.
For living in integrity and operating as my full authentic self.

My work funds my dream lifestyle.
I just enjoy it when my body allows, and that's okay.

I don't think it's a coincidence that I've been working with increasing numbers of people with their own version of endometriosis—things that require special attention or consideration.

And it's an absolute joy to guide them in finding their own version of a freedom-focused lifestyle, with no apologies.

Today was my first time in the Centurian VIP Lounge at Philadelphia airport. Here are my thoughts:

It's basically the same as every other airport lounge 😅.

In all seriousness, though, I'm grateful every time my business funds a trip and meets all my needs along the way.

Entrepreneurship has given me freedom I never could have dreamed of. 

Who cares if they don't have hot chocolate in some of the drinks machines? 😏

I didn't set out to write a book that made me look good or sound impressive—that wouldn't have been valuable to others. 

I set out to draw readers into my struggles, breakthroughs, and inner/outer questioning so they could see themselves in the story.

This book is going to make you reflect on your life, your level of fulfillment, your happiness, and ask yourself, "What needs to change?"

These are the hard questions that most of us need to ask yet don't feel safe asking. Hopefully, by me going first, it'll be that much easier for you to do the same.

It's easy to let life take us on a journey, instead of grabbing the bull by the horns and controlling the trajectory.

But sometimes that approach only works for a short period of time.

Then you wake up one day feeling like your life isn't really yours.

That's what 'Be The Person' is about.

I just watched the Netflix documentary Inside the Manosphere and it got me thinking about freedom of all things.

Many of the influencers in the film talk about independence, power, and not caring what anyone thinks.

And to be fair, a lot of the themes resonate with people—myself included.

➡️ The desire to be self-sufficient.

➡️ The drive to provide for your family.

➡️ The appeal of building wealth without having to rely on institutions or employers.

What struck me, though, was that many of the same people preaching independence are also completely dependent on others to survive.

🚫 Their income relies on views and vitality.

🚫 Their relevance relies on approval and engagement.

🚫 Their business model relies on saying things that keep people reacting.

When your livelihood depends on staying relevant to a specific audience.

You have to keep streaming.
Escalating.
Saying things that spark outrage.

And they can't really go too far.

What they're most afraid of is actually becoming boring—people moving on and forgetting about them altogether.

Because then they don't get paid.

That dynamic creates a strange paradox.

The people talking the loudest about freedom are also the ones serving the algorithm every day.

➡️ Their business works because they understand marketing, human psychology, and how persuasive confidence can be. 

➡️ They know how to activate the fear of missing out to keep people interested. 

➡️ They know that certainty and boldness attract followers, not bullet-proof logic or consistency.

But it also means their influence depends on constant validation from people online.

That’s a very different form of independence than the one many well-educated professionals are actually seeking, which is far more sustainable.

One of the reasons I’ve always loved freelance medical writing as a profession is that it offers a path to autonomy that doesn’t require you to become a public personality.

🚫 You don’t need to chase views.

🚫 You don’t need to provoke reactions.

🚫 You don’t need to build an audience to make a living.

✅ You build genuine expertise.

✅ You solve real problems for trusted clients.

✅ You create income based on value rather than fleeting attention.

For those who burn out in traditional careers, that kind of independence is incredibly powerful.

All in all, I'm far more interested in genuine independence than performing it online.

Both paths promise freedom. 
But they operate very differently.

One thing I love about being self-employed: no two weeks are the same and I can't predict it accurately.

Monday: Lunch + friends; 1:1 coaching

Tuesday: Pop-Up Event; group coaching (for me) 

Wednesday: 24hr spa (Substack, journalling)

Thursday: Launch a book; dance videoshoot


What I actually did:


Monday: Off sick; 2x naps; 500x teas

Tuesday: Off sick (+ unexpected writing surge)

Wednesday: 24hr spa (10x marking; journalling)

Thursday: 2x meetings; dance videoshoot


Friday is supposed to look like this:

Off (birthday); Human Design reading; another spa (+ boyfriend)


But the Universe might have something else in store! Who knows? 😅

All I know is my cat looks super cute when she rests her head on my tissue box and we're in this together.

Pushing harder, marketing more, and forcing visibility never grows my business. Here's what does:

→ Feeling comfortable in my own skin
→ Being more myself than ever before
→ Taking ownership of my life & decisions
→ Gaining confidence through experience
→ Energetic alignment with my services
→ Trusting myself more than I did yesterday

I used to think working more equalled getting better results.
But that only made me exhausted and bitter.

Then I noticed something.

Whenever I took the pressure off myself to get results in a certain way during a specified timeframe, things moved.

→ Opportunities appeared.
→ Ideal clients started reaching out.
→ Conversations turned into work.
→ I became fully-booked in no time.

It was so counterintuitive!
But it was a phenomenon I learned how to replicate.

I experience this time and time again in my business.

Rather than doing more, I focus on becoming clearer and more grounded as a person.

🚫 It's rarely about tactics, strategies, or others' thoughts about me.

🙌🏼 It's usually about self-trust, genuine confidence, and energy flow.

While other business coaches teach tactics first, I teach alignment first.

Because when you are crystal clear on who you are, who you serve, how you serve them, and what makes you unique, your purpose shines through.

You magnetize dream clients and it feels effortless.

You stop forcing things to happen and let them flow.

I will always prioritize internal shifts over external strategy.
365 days of the year.

And I will continue to co-create sustainable visions for my students' businesses and lifestyles that unlock parts of them they never thought they could access.

Because that's the difference between being an on-call freelancer who is a slave to their client's needs and an abundant entrepreneur who sees opportunities around every corner and secures them with ease.

In September 2024, I woke up feeling like my life wasn't my own. Past decisions had slowly crept up on me until I could hardly recognize the (toxic) bubble I'd put myself in.

Heading out on your own and leaving the comforts of a familiar career path is pretty terrifying, especially if those around you aren't very supportive of you becoming self-employed.

To most aspiring writers, the idea of asking people in their network to critique their writing or give feedback on a proposal is far-fetched to say the least.

As a 22-year-old coming out of universities and research facilities, I had plenty of medical knowledge and clinical practice under my belt.

But with no formal medical writing training, no advanced degree, and no one I could look up to who was already thriving as a freelancer, I felt like a fish out of water at the best of times.

It wasn’t enough to discover medical writing; I needed to:
  1. Overcome my imposter syndrome
  2. Create a supportive network from scratch
  3. Build a strong brand for my company, and
  4. Figure out how to market and sell my medical writing services

...from scratch, all on my own.

It was really, really hard and stressful.

But I’m so glad I stuck it out because 18 months later, I was making regular $12k months and turning down work because I was overloaded, without having to market myself anymore.

I even turned down a $182k/yr medical writing job so I could retain my newfound (priceless) independence.
