My job involved doing both administrative work, and providing strategic guidance to help brands grow their business at Ulta Beauty. 

As a bonus, I sometimes met brands that weren't quite ready to scale at Ulta Beauty. In these instances, I got to help them establish their go-to-market strategy. This part was my favorite.

There are moments in your career where you're asked to step into something new because you speak truth and you speak it loudly. That's what this role was. URBN never had anything tied to employee resource groups or DEI.

I was selected by the Anthropologie President to represent the brand and work with eight colleagues across the URBN organization to establish the vision and goals for URBN’s first diversity council. 

DEI work is a long game. I don't have a lot of metrics to show as my time in the role was short. I can say that my voice was heard, and I caused some good trouble as a liaison for the brand, employees, and the URBN executive board.

Anyone who knows me knows that I've been an "Anthro girl" since high school. What a dream is was to learn how to have an eye for the Anthro aesthetic to curate a winning assortment in the Gift Division. I specifically bought stationery, desk accessories, holiday wrap (so fun), travel, tech, books, and games (also fun).

I had the pleasure of managing two amazing women who assisted me in finding product, managing a huge open to buy, and chasing trend in season.

I can find almost anything with a specific aesthetic - it's a super power.

Since 80% of our assortment was designed in-house, I also had the opportunity to work with amazing colleagues in design, marketing, and product development. I had an impact and will forever remember this role.

Employee Resource Group work has been my favorite unpaid voluntary job. It's connected me with like-minded folks, allowed me to showcase my personal pride from my black heritage, and - most importantly - help others less familiar with corporate understand what's needed to succeed.

One of my proudest moments surrounded building a foundation to better support black-owned brands interested in selling at Target through a Development Day Program.  We shared the realities of doing business at retail and connected them to founders and merchants in a half-day event.

I had the same title, but the work is so different. In Stationery, there was a lot more product development, trend, licensing and seasonality. I bought Crayola crayons, colored pencils, and markers. Those things sell like hot cakes during back-to-school season!

I partnered with my planning team to ensure our buys were right. I scoped the market to guarantee we had the right licensing for arts & crafts gifts. What a fun gig!

This job was a dream. I managed a $600M book of business in the menstruation, sexual health, adult incontinence, and planning & protection categories.

I partnered with global brands Tampax and Always - to drive engagement and category growth with their "Like a Girl" Campaign.

I launched emerging brands This is L, Cora Women, and The Honey Pot Company to launch organic sanitary protection products in 2016. It is with both honor and pride that I was able to play a pivotal role in transforming this category.
