Senior Engineering Manager

As a community manager I am driving a group of approximately 160 engineers. My responsibilities are both operational and strategic and include: staffing, hiring management, performance management, developing initiatives and programs that provide opportunities and thought leadership for our community, research and development project ownership. 

I am always in contact with multiple stakeholders assessing a wide array of situations and providing solutions. 

I interview and discuss offers as well as staffing options with external candidates and participate in client calls in order to identify the best matching candidates.

The Community Lead role is responsible for managing a subset of an engineering community. 
Key activities include but are not limited to: 
- Building teams: from on boarding to staffing to regular follow ups, always checking that our colleague's career plans are in sync with the delivery team's plans.

Working on breaking down a monolithic web application (PHP) into several micro services written in Python. This involves working with asynchronous requests between the micro services and keeping Postgres databases in sync as well as decomposing large parts of the monolith and recreating then into new services

I was selected to become the team leader of the local business intelligence team (8 team members). 

My daily responsibilities were related to administrative team management, technical support, task breakdown and estimations and overall delivery of required features.

Occasionally I interviewed new candidates for the open positions within our team. 

I provided feedback to my colleagues and participated in their performance reviews as an evaluator.

Business Intelligence Team Leader

Working on custom business intelligence solutions, developed by our department using PHP and InfiniDB (a columnar solution for Mysql) capable of extracting, transforming and loading millions of new entries per day.

One such solution was represented by our state of the art analytics tool that displayed complex in-game data and metrics including financial details to our main game stakeholders.

Daily responsibilities included ticket validation, solutioning, implementation and delivery. I was working as part of an 8 member team interacting with different stakeholders spread across our organization.

I was selected to be a part of a limited special purpose team deployed to identify and fix issues in one of our online games developed for the SE Asia market. Together with my 3 other colleagues we stabilized the product before returning to our original team.

As an accomplished management professional, I am leading a team of 160 engineers providing strategic and operational oversight to ensure top-tier performance. My expertise lies in developing individuals, teams, and technical communities, while coordinating engagement and growth initiatives. In my current role, I oversee staffing, hiring management, and strategic program development that drives the dimensions of the group. I also work closely with stakeholders to assess various situations and provide tailored solutions to achieve goals.

My experience in a previous role also includes supporting business across the Web community, recruiting, interviewing and onboarding candidates, hiring management, team structure design and allocation, and supporting career development, growth plans, mentoring, and coaching initiatives. Additionally, I act as a product owner and drive continuous development on R&D initiatives within the Web Community. I am proficient in using Agile methodologies such as Scrum and Kanban, and I support using task tracking tools like Jira, Redmine, etc.

As a former web developer with a backend-centric profile, I started my software development journey as a PHP Engineer. Throughout my career, I have gained experience in various fields, including Business Intelligence, where I worked on large data sets extracted, transformed, and loaded into analytics tools developed by our teams. As a team leader, I led a team of seven people from a technical and administrative standpoint. I have also worked on a world-class CRM solution and have experience in Python development, including restructuring a PHP monolith into microservices written in Python and running on Docker. In addition, I have supported an R&D team in developing a Docker-based REACT+NodeJS+Postgres application.
