Does your recruitment partner have a network or a LinkedIn recruiter licence?

We filled a role last week where the candidates most recent job title was a completely different function to that which we were searching for. Had our working practices just been a search on LinkedIn, then we'd have never found this individual, let alone considered them.

But yet from the very first conversation, they were perfect for it.

I knew their boss and following a chat looking for some advice on the brief, they ended up recommending the person in their team (yes, true story).

So, next time you're lining up a recruitment mandate, ask your supplier how they operate and don't be shy to dig beneath the surface.

The majority are great at boolean searches and can put out an excellent initial message on LinkedIn.

If successful, they'll send you the same old names. It not, what happens after that? Either way you've not really got the best outcome.

The reason the recruitment sector has such a bad reputation is the above is now the standard way of working. Recruitment industry events full of AI tech designed to do the job quicker all whilst forgetting that we're in a sector dealing with people, their livelihoods and helping them navigate life changing decisions which in turn should lead that very service to be more personable.

So, if you want the best talent then deal with the best professionals. We're not cheap, not always the fastest CV in your inbox, but we are the ones that'll build you a winning team.
