Re-worked product definition process to deliver actionable, iterative work to engineering teams significantly faster than the previous approach. This new process resulted in a much higher cadence of delivering products to market. New process went beyond documentation of requirements, expanding specifications to include metrics to measure, and detailed breakdown of work items in and out of scope to drive understanding of project direction across the organization. Established accurate product roadmap to better inform internal stakeholders of project process and clarify team working capacity.

Director of Product

Responsible for leading and managing a team of engineers to deliver innovative and high-quality video creation tools. Duties included collaborating to set the overall technical direction of the company, architecting and designing complex cloud software systems, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to define and prioritize product features.

Crucial to this role was hiring and developing team members, ensuring they had the necessary skills and resources to succeed, from entry level to lead engineers. Grew the team from 2 to 10 software engineers and spun up the first dedicated QA and internal data roles for the organization. Team consistently had highest eNPS scores and retention rate.

Managed enterprise services team comprised of developers, QA, and business analysts. Responsible for shared/infrastructure internal libraries, services and business-critical third party integrations. Owned dozens of services and apps, including authentication/authorization platform, large customer facing REST API, licensing, internal auditing/logging platform, SMS/email delivery, shared UI component libraries and web apps. Wrote code daily, ran projects end to end, from architecture through development, testing, and deployment. Assisted other product teams with architecture, internal service integration, and code reviews.

Pushed through infrastructure improvements, upgrading services to .NET Core and moving from AWS EC2/Beanstalk/ECS to Kubernetes with custom metrics and automated CI/CD. Setup all projects with Docker Compose-based development environments. Modified critical services to reduce dependencies and constrain failure modes.

Lead Engineer

Lead small team charged with building greenfield web applications. Responsible for technical direction of new web application development on TypeScript/Knockout/ASP.NET Core based stack. Built framework that baked in internal standards and behaviors of company web apps, shortening development time from 6+ months to weeks for new projects. Built and shipped new product line comprised of web apps, services, and on-premise software. Ran pilot of cross functional teams, receiving dedicated resources from services and QA teams to optimize project turn around.

Member of enterprise web applications team responsible for large enterprise web application. Drove transition to modern web development practices like components, code bundling, CSS pre-processors. Introduced automated testing (unit, integration, UI). Built and tested features and fixes on tight schedules. Reworked product in to "12 factor app", replacing manual deployment and configuration process.
