My approach to taxes is to take time to listen to you, ask you questions and help you understand how things work in a way that makes money feel manageable. Whether you are an individual, a small business owner, or the education/employee engagement manager for an organization, I can help you learn what you need to know so you and your team can ask good questions and make decisions that fit your priorities and move you towards meeting and maintaining your goals.
 
My background comes from working at E&Y and PwC and having exposure to big firm accounting and to different ways of working with both individuals and organizations.  Through my experiences, I saw first-hand the value that individualized, judgment-free support provides.
 
I combine this background and my focus to provide realistic, simple advice since the day I started my practice in 2003. I take on a limited client load so I can provide support throughout the year to answer questions and help my clients become comfortable with and confident about taxes and money.
 
In fact, many clients hire me to support them on a consulting basis and refer to me as their “advisor on speed dial.”
 
One of my favorite ways to provide value is to help organizations empower their employees by providing financial wellness benefits.  This includes providing interactive workshops woven with real life scenarios and fun, I help teams understand that money can be a source of power in addition to sometimes being a source of stress.  And since learning about money is a great equalizer, my programs benefit both the employees and the company!

As a member of the board of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, Alumni - Chattanooga Chapter, I help to create and implement opportunities for alumni in the community to continue to engage with their alma mater.  This is accomplished by planning events for various alumni groups, creating a greater social media presence, seeking donations to provide the chapter with fund raising for our scholarship fund.  

My favorite activity each year is voting on the recipient of the annual scholarship.  I love seeing the gumption and excitement of the young people from our local community who have chosen to wear orange!

In my role as Vice President of The Board of Trustees at Hixson United Methodist Church, I help make capital decisions regarding the ongoing operations of the church.  I have participated in many aspects of changing the way our financial planning for future projects has been conducted.  I also assist in vetting project costs and vendors, and determining the financial implications of these decisions.

I have also participated in the securing of new financing for ongoing projects.

I served a three year term as the liaison between the HUMC Board of Trustees and the Child Development Center.  In this position, I was a voting member of both boards.  I represented the best interests of the church body while also ensuring that the children and staff of the CDC had what they needed to be in a safe nurturing learning environment.  

During my time, I spearheaded an effort to make capital improvements to potentially improve the CDC bottom line by 80%.  I was able to identify the potential added income, and communicate that to those who could get the work completed in a way that expedited the changes necessary.

My work with The Learning Groove included looking for new music and movement class teachers, creating and implementing a marketing plan for the company, finding vendors for projects such as building new websites, promoting shows, and various other activities.  

My primary job responsibility was to find new teachers and I did this by searching Worldwide online for people who love music and were looking for some additional income.  

Additionally, my marketing plan included all different types of online ads (AdWords, Facebook, etc.), more focused advertising at conferences and the like, and contacting "experts" to get the products reviewed.

In my job capacity of finding vendors for various business tasks that must be done, I was first responsible for finding work that others had that the owners of the company like.  I was then responsible for contacting the person who had done the work and getting background information from them in the form of an interview.

I was also, on occasion, responsible for the promotion of shows by the owners of the company.  In this capacity I was sometimes responsible for finding venues, determining which venues had the correct specifications as well as availability, and negotiating the details of a contract.  Additionally, I was sometimes responsible for promoting the show within a town or city using many different forms of online ads, direct e-mail to certain demographics, and working with various organizations to advertise within their establishments.

Lastly, I was often asked to complete a myriad of other business tasks which are too numerous to list, but I always readily accepted the challenge.

A little about me...
I am an Industrial Engineer who has systems for her systems.  I use that thought process to develop unique systems for small businesses to grow their profitability.  I work to make sure that business owners can see the fruits of their labor.  I also help businesses take that new understanding and turn it in to long term business plans.  Accurate and up to date bookkeeping is the foundation of all of this proactive business planning, so I offer those services as well.

It has been my distinct honor to serve many business owners in this capacity.

I live in Chattanooga, but I am able to serve clients anywhere in the US.
