Using their proprietary platform, meedee8, Popimedia offers brands maximised and scalable social media exposure through targeted campaigns that offer campaign management, lead generation and reporting through Facebook, Instagram and the Facebook Audience network.

As Head of Marketing at Popimedia, my role included the brand and marketing strategy leveraging PR, sales collateral, cross channel digital campaigns, events, thought leadership (in the form of downloads, blogs and mailers), product and partner marketing to deliver of client acquisition and retention across a range of territories. This included all communication and measurement platforms including the website, MailChimp, Google Analytics, Google Data Studio and our own CRM system. As an essential part of brand I was additionally responsible for internal culture.

I was fortunate to oversee the marketing department including two direct reports and a number of agencies including the PR agency, web and social.

In my time with Popimedia I founded the CMO2020, Ad-tech Academy and SHiFT initiatives which were indicative of brand thinking and acted as PR and lead generation platforms.

The team at Popimedia were incredible and it was a blessed two years that I was able to spend with them.

Development of marketing plans including objectives, brand positioning, channels, SWOT, calendar and budget in line with business and brand objectives
Spearheading market research to ensure that marketing decisions are aligned with the market and support the business objectives

Preparation of competitor pricing analysis reports

Budget preparation and management to ensure ROI of marketing spend and achievement of weekly targets including preparation of weekly sales reports
Analysis of the business, evaluation of competitive challenges and identifies opportunities for growth
Management of marketing staff to ensure that the marketing function delivered on objectives at events

As the CEO of Willow, I lead a team of social media experts, software engineers and sales professionals who are building a turnkey social media solution that helps professional service providers and busy entrepreneurs to achieve social media success. 

I have more than 10 years of experience in banking, tech, marketing, strategy, and entrepreneurship, spanning across Europe and the US. 

I started my career as a management consultant and worked on different international projects at bigco. Afterwards I moved into M&A and corporate development at one of Europe’s leading banks. This led me to an opportunity in San Fransisco, where I helped and supported Belgian scale-ups with successfully launching their venture in the US. Afterwards I ventured into entrepreneurship myself and worked as a marketing consultant for the biggest social media companies in the Bay Area. 

Based on my experience working with the leading social media powerhouses I got the idea for Willow, a company I founded together with Steven van Kerkhoven over 2018-2019.

For context: 
For as long as I can remember mentioning and tagging people on LinkedIn through social media management tools has been flawed. Not a single tool on the market (including ours) was capable of delivering on native-alike solutions. 

So if you wanted to tag people in your post through a tool, you always had to find work-arounds. One of the most popular ones being natively re-tagging the people in the post that you made through the social media management tool. 

Sounds 'small', but is actually really major for everyone responsible for doing the social media for a company. Be it the office manager, the CEO, the marketing manager, the intern,...

Why? Simple 👇

Tagging the right people is considered a good practice,
Not being able to properly tag in the tool adds a huge deal of friction in the workflow (you have to remember, you have to double the work...)

This slowly but surely became the achilles heel of all the social media marketing tools. And all the tools went out to solve the problem. 

We experienced it ourselves as we lost hundreds of customers because the tagging 'just didn't work'. What a disappointment every single loss was. 

And while most of the solutions settled for half-baked solutions like being capable of tagging people whose LinkedIn profile is connected to the tool, or being capable of tagging people who follow your LinkedIn page...

We didn't. We were focused on solving this right.

The amount of thinking and tinkering that went into getting this right was massive.  We got to a breakthrough thanks to the development of our AI social media manager Will - AI social media manager for LinkedIn profiles.

So we capitalized on top of this aha-moment and we can now finally - after years of subpar, insufficient, incomplete tagging and mentioning - offer full-capability mentioning and tagging through our OG social media tool Willow. 

If you just research the amount of people straight out begging for this functionality, it's enormous. 

So yep, it's here!
