It was my birthday last week.
And it ended with me crying.

Not because it was bad.
But because it was… a lot.

This time I didn’t celebrate on the actual day.
The celebrations started two days before.
And stretched into the next.

Everything was perfect.

I tried new things.
Shopped like I had a gift card from the universe.
Got my nails done.
Got my hair done.

On the outside it was all
“Yay, it’s my birthday.”

But somewhere beneath the glow…
I felt heavy.

Not sad.
Just aware.

Aware that life is quietly moving.
That years are stacking up.

That time does not pause just because you look good in a birthday dress.

I know I’m still young.
Opportunities are endless.

But with every birthday, the urge grows stronger:

To do bigger.
To do better.
To live more aligned.

And I reflect.
A lot.

Most people live 99% and reflect 1%.

I live 1% and reflect 99%.

It sounds profound.
Until it isn’t.

Because when you think deeply all the time…
You can spiral.

And I almost did.

On the way to dinner, I lightly crashed my car into the one in front of me that stopped suddenly.
Minor. No damage. No one hurt.

But I’m overly critical.

So instead of laughing it off…

I replayed it in my head through the entire birthday dinner with my closest friends.

By the time I got home, I hugged my mom and cried.

Later we realized I was PMSing.
Hard.

But that didn’t make the feelings fake.

We talked.
She held me close.

She told me I’m growing gracefully. Beautifully.
That everyone is proud.

And then she said something that stayed:

“𝘋𝘰𝘯’𝘵 𝘣𝘦 𝘴𝘰 𝘩𝘢𝘳𝘥 𝘰𝘯 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘧. 𝘏𝘶𝘮𝘢𝘯𝘴 𝘮𝘢𝘬𝘦 𝘮𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘬𝘦𝘴. 𝘛𝘩𝘢𝘵’𝘴 𝘩𝘰𝘸 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘨𝘳𝘰𝘸.”

That night felt like a roller coaster.

But it ended in comfort.

And the next day at the gym, a 10th grader asked me if I was in 10th too.

What an ego boost. 

So I guess… all’s cool.

Birthdays aren’t just balloons and cake.
They’re mirrors.

Sometimes you like what you see.
Sometimes you question it.

But either way… you’re still here.
Still becoming.

And maybe that’s worth celebrating too.

My 7 most expensive mistakes as a Founder

Not lessons I read somewhere.
Lessons I paid for.

𝟭. 𝗜 𝗼𝘂𝘁𝘀𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗰𝗲𝗱 𝗺𝘆 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘃𝗶𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻

If someone had a bigger title, a bigger company, or a longer track record, I automatically assumed they saw something I didn’t.

Even when I was the one talking to customers every day.
Even when the data was right in front of me.

Every time I ignored that quiet internal signal, I ended up taking longer routes to the same answer.

More money spent. More time wasted. More unnecessary stress.

𝟮. 𝗜 𝗼𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗶𝘇𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘀𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴

I hesitated before investing in better tools, better equipment, even better work environments.

I kept thinking, let me save for now.

But I slowly realized something simple.

When your output drives revenue, anything that improves your output is rarely an expense. It is usually leverage.

𝟯. 𝗛𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝗮𝘀𝘁, 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝘀𝗹𝗼𝘄

I wanted to believe things would “settle.”
That maybe I was being too impatient.

But every wrong hire quietly changes team energy, execution speed, and standards.

And the longer you wait, the more expensive the correction becomes.

𝟰. 𝗜 𝗱𝗲𝗹𝗮𝘆𝗲𝗱 𝗹𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗲

I told myself I was being thoughtful. Strategic. Careful.

In reality, I was just slow.

While I was observing, other founders were increasing output with smaller teams, testing faster, and learning faster.

That gap compounds very quickly.

𝟱. 𝗜 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗽𝗼𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝘀𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺𝘀

So knowledge stayed in people’s heads.
Processes stayed informal.

And consistency depended on mood, not structure.

What feels like a small delay early becomes repeated friction later.

𝟲. 𝗜 𝗱𝗲𝗹𝗮𝘆𝗲𝗱 𝗲𝘅𝗲𝗰𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻

I wanted clarity before launching.
Confidence before testing.

Polish before showing anything publicly.

But most clarity only comes after the market responds, not before.

Some of my biggest delays in growth were simply delays in shipping.

𝟳. 𝗣𝗿𝗶𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘇𝗲𝗱 $𝟭𝟬𝟬 𝘁𝗮𝘀𝗸𝘀 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 $𝟱,𝟬𝟬𝟬 𝗱𝗲𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀

Answering things I did not need to answer.
Reviewing things I did not need to review.

Perfecting small details while postponing the uncomfortable, high-impact conversations.

I was working hard.
Just not always on the right problems.

Looking back, these mistakes did not only cost money.

They cost time, momentum, and sometimes confidence.

And I still catch a few of these patterns trying to sneak back in from time to time.

The biggest attention mistake happens in the first 0.2 seconds.

That’s how long someone takes to decide
stop… or scroll.

Not after your insight.
Not after your value.

Before it.

Feeds aren’t chronological anymore.

They’re personalized.
Predicted.

Optimized by recommendation systems trained on behavior, not intent.

So everything competes at once.

→ Over 5 billion people on social media
→ Hundreds of millions of posts published every day
→ Infinite supply. Finite attention.

The brain adapts.

First → distraction.
Then → ruthless filtering.

Familiar patterns get ignored.

Safe openings get skipped.
“Good content” disappears.

That’s why most posts fail before the first line ends.

𝗣𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗿𝘂𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 isn’t a tactic.
It’s the price of entry.

If you don’t earn the pause in 0.2 seconds,

your message never exists
your expertise never registers
your offer never gets considered

Understanding human psychology under attention overload is no longer optional.

It’s non-negotiable.

The creators who win don’t say smarter things.
They say things differently.

They earn the pause.
Then they earn the listen.

For months, I was convinced I had ADHD.

Too restless. Too wired.
Too many tabs open in my head.

I couldn’t sit still.
Couldn’t switch off.

Couldn’t relax without guilt crawling up my spine.

After months of brushing it off, I finally went to a psychiatrist.
Then a psychologist.

Multiple assessments.

It wasn’t ADHD.

It was anxiety.

Not just clinical anxiety.
Personality-driven anxiety.

The kind that hides behind achievement.

Hyper-vigilant.
Hyper-independent.
High ambition.
Over-functioning.

The kind that looks impressive on LinkedIn.
But feels exhausting in private.

When your worth gets fused to your output…
Productivity stops being a tool.

It becomes your identity.

Sitting idle feels illegal.
Rest feels irresponsible.
Taking a day off feels like falling behind.

You tell yourself it’s drive.
You call it hunger.
You brand it as discipline.

But underneath?

It’s fear.

Fear of being average.
Fear of wasting your potential.
Fear of being left behind.

And the cruelest part…

Even when you win, you don’t land.

On paper… acceleration.

In quiet moments?

The high lasts minutes.

I used to think my goal was freedom.

But what I’m realizing now…

If you don’t build a life outside your ambition,
your ambition becomes your cage.

When your career is the main source of validation → every dip feels existential.

When productivity is your self-esteem → slow seasons feel like identity loss.

When achievement is your coping mechanism → stillness feels unsafe.

No one talks about this side of high performance.

The part where you’re praised for outcomes
while privately negotiating with your nervous system.

So I’m starting targeted therapy.

Not because I’m weak.

Because I’m tired of succeeding externally
while feeling like I’m behind internally.

I know I’m not alone in this.

To the founders.
The operators.
The over-functioners.

The ones who look calm but are constantly bracing for impact.
