I have over 20 years experience in the field of web design and user experience (UX) with 100s of websites under my belt.

Generating B2B leads requires multiple touch points (the most recent thinking is now 20-50) - and thoughtful comments are a great way to increase those. 

Which one's true?

They all are. Kind of. 

Firstly, it's useful to know how the LinkedIn algorithm works, but not at the expense of a successful strategy. If you're here to make sales, rather than garner fans and adoration, you need to be building relationships with your target audience. And the best way to do that is through commenting. 

LinkedIn's new algorithm is here to keep quality high, show you content you want to see, and reward helpful, insightful and interesting content. They don't want to see loads of low-value comments and the same people using pods to comment on each other's stuff. 

I'm an ex-pod user (one of the WhatsApp group ones), and LinkedIn showed my content to a much wider audience as soon as I got out of the vacuum. 

LinkedIn wants you to build a community, as long as you aren't writing rubbish comments under other people's posts. The solution:

- Comment on 10-20 other people's LinkedIn posts per day

- Make sure these aren't the same 10-20 people every day - I have about 70 people in my follow-up strategy and that works really well for me

- Make sure the people in your follow-up strategy are a mixture of your target audience, fun people who keep you on LinkedIn, and LinkedIn influencers

- Do not join a pod! (And run the T&Cs through AI before signing up to any LinkedIn tools - a lot of them will add you to a pod without your knowledge, or break LinkedIn's Terms of Service)

2025 was absolutely amazing for Lime. 

Over a million connections were added by Limers.

We added the Content Lab. 

We added Lime Analytics. 

We were joined by SO many lovely new customers. 

And we got to know some of our awesome customers who've been with us almost all the way through. 

But I didn't purposely take any weekdays off. (I was forced to take a couple when I went to A&E, for managing my flat renovation, and for managing all of my flat selling - but none of those were as enjoyable as working!) 

Don't get me wrong - I had an incredible year. 

But this year I want to make more personal memories. So I've started using 1 Second Every Day (you take a 1 second video every day, and the app joins them all together). 

It's working so well so far - I've popped to a new park after a meeting, tried a couple of new classes, and just generally been a lot better at exploring. Oh, and I've booked in two holidays for 2026 already!

Any other tips on making sure I'm making more of life outside of work?

A couple of people have asked me how to set goals for LinkedIn.

Seems appropriate for January. 

Here's how I do it.

First, split your goals into Inputs, Outputs, and Outcomes:

- Inputs - In your direct control (time, habits). For example, write for 60 minutes each morning.

- Outputs - The immediate, tangible results of those actions, such as number of articles written.

- Outcomes - The meaningful changes those outputs create, such as more qualified leads.

I find this goal 'ladder' helps you link what you're doing to the outcome you want. It also helps you keep an eye on the ultimate outcome e.g. focusing on number of leads, rather than being distracted by number of followers. 

Next, whittle it down to a maximum of 2 in each category. 

Then, interrogate yourself. Are the Inputs and Outputs really the best ones to achieve the Outcome? If you aren't sure, great! Run the test for a month or a quarter, and see it as a way to rule out what does/doesn't work for you. 

Then, keep an eye on them every day, or week (depending how often you want to use LinkedIn). I like to keep a scorecard spreadsheet where I tick off the actions every day. 

Every quarter or so, check in with how you're doing, see if the goals are realistic, and make changes if you need to. 

But I want to know your goals - do you set yourself a strategy? Or are you just vibing LinkedIn with great results?

Is there a better feeling than having lots of lovely content lined up?

I'm never out of things to post, and I'm definitely improving with the Content Coach (although he is often very mean to me). 

I also know I have a good balance of Personal, Informational, and Sales content.

Gen Z makes up around 27% of the workforce. 

By 2030, they'll be 30%. 

I think that's important for all of us - especially in B2B. 

So I've been thinking about what that will mean for LinkedIn in the next few years:

- More video. I know we had our LinkedIn video 'false start', but there's no doubt that's becoming our preferred way of consuming information, so it's only a matter of time before it becomes more important. 
I used to post a lot of videos, and it was amazing when it came to LinkedIn friends recognising me IRL, and just building more of a connection, so I'm planning to get back to video this year. 

- 'Real', conversational posts. Gen Z have grown up being able to see behind the brand and follow along with how people are building their businesses. We're getting to a point where a lot of content that would usually be in the 'side-chat' is now the main content (how I built, day in a life, podcasts). So I expect to see this trend continue on LinkedIn. 

- Media-rich profiles. A lot of us are used to written, or even printed out, CVs. Gen Z have had multi-media CVs for their whole working life. So profiles with banners, imagery, links, videos etc. will stand out more than just text. 

- Content that helps freelancers and content creators appeal to corporates. We're in a time of uncertain jobs, where less people are/want to be tied to a corporation. But freelancers and creators still want to work with these corporations - and their content will be what attracts them.  

LinkedIn has already made quite a few algorithm changes to get ready for more Gen Zers. 

But I want to know what your predictions are - any other changes you think we have coming in the next few years?

Umm why is LinkedIn the number 2 employer of people who consume my content?

Don't get me wrong - I'm pretty chuffed. 

This year, I'm hoping to push Fiverr off the top spot.
