Andreessen Horowitz (#1 VC in the world; $46 miliardi in AUM) ha APPENA annunciato qualcosa che è molto più IMPATTANTE di quello che sembra: una divisione “New Media” interna al fondo.

L’assetto vincente per una start-up è sempre stato:
→ tecnologia + soldi + persone giuste. 

Ma oggi le cose stanno cambiando e l’assetto che si sta definendo è:
→ tecnologia + soldi + persone giuste + *controllo della narrazione online*.

Se controlli i new media controlli la narrazione online.

E l’obiettivo di Andreessen Horowitz è proprio questo: costruire il miglior team “New Media” (social, podcast, newsletter…) nel venture capital.

Un unico posto dove i founder del loro portafoglio possono andare per acquisire legittimità, gusto, brand, e media expertise per vincere la battaglia della narrazione online.

Hanno reclutato un team fortissimo (il chief of staff di Mr. Beast, responsabile media di Substack) ma c’è di più, vogliono reclutare anche le FUTURE star del “new media”.

Infatti a leggere bene c’è un “lancio nel lancio”: la New Media Fellowship.

Inizia a gennaio. 8 settimane. A Menlo Park, in California.

In questo arco di tempo figure di spicco nel settore dei media incontreranno persone fortissime del mondo tech per scambiarsi idee e avviare collaborazioni.

→ In pratica i futuri Joe Rogan incontreranno i futuri Sam Altman per trovare sinergie.

Mica male.

Non è ancora chiarissimo cosa faranno in pratica, ma l’intento è chiaro: affiliare i nuovi ‘media operator’ per il mondo tech.

Fino a ieri i soldi andavano principalmente a chi sapeva costruire tecnologia.

Oggi i soldi (e i programmi “cool”) si stanno spostando anche su chi sa costruire attenzione e fiducia.

Un colosso come a16z sta dicendo al mondo: «La narrazione non è un nice-to-have. È parte della value prop di un fondo.»

Segnale dal futuro, da appuntarsi e studiare.

ci sono molti motivi validi per cominciare a fare personal branding - io ho cominciato a farlo seriamente per smettere di essere scambiato per l'Assessore all'Ambiente di Collesalvetti (che saluto!)

LinkedIn sta sponsorizzando clip dei propri manager che urlano al mondo: «Caricare video su LinkedIn è importante!». Nonostante questo, le clip su LinkedIn non performano bene.

C’è sempre una discordanza tra ciò che una piattaforma *fa* e ciò che *dice* di voler fare. Io di solito preferisco seguire ciò che fa.

In questo caso, però, è evidente che LinkedIn ci sta mettendo la faccia su questa storia dei video. Letteralmente, la faccia del proprio team e dei propri C-level.

Segno che gli esperimenti di feed video di inizio anno sono falliti, ma che il piano di portare un formato à-la-Reel sulla piattaforma rimane.

Dubito fortemente che i video, nelle prossime settimane o nei prossimi mesi, diventino il formato preferito della piattaforma. Però una buona strategia su LinkedIn, ad oggi (12 nov 2025), per me include anche i video.

Un po’ perché variare i formati è sempre utile per come l’algoritmo percepisce il tuo profilo.

Un po’ perché i video hanno una funzione chiara: mostrano la tua faccia, fanno sentire la tua voce, e sono i contenuti in cui sei davvero esposto/a - quindi quelli che creano un legame più forte con chi ti ascolta (in gergo tecnico: intimità asimmetrica).

👂👂 Morale operativa: ascoltare sempre cosa dice una piattaforma, osservare cosa fa e capire come le due cose convivono. Tenersi pronti. E, se vuoi capirlo in anticipo, segui i suoi pezzi da novanta: CEO, CMO, Product Marketing, ecc.

During my talk for Actemium with Matteo Figoli, there was this very interesting moment where someone asked me: 
«When will LinkedIn's opportunity window close?»

I told them the truth:

«I can't predict it. It'll depend on saturation levels.»

Then I thought about it for a second and asked:

«How many of you post at least once a month right now?»

About 30% of the room raised their hands.

Pretty high percentage, to be honest.

But it makes sense - it was an audience of B2B marketers after all 😂

Me: «Cool. When 50% of you post once a month, and 10% of you post multiple times a week, that's when the window will basically be closed.»

...

At the end of the day, LinkedIn really reminds me of what happened in B2C with TikTok.

At first, everyone laughed at TikTok/Musically: «Hahaha, the app where people do dances»

Then people started taking the platform seriously. They became *TikTokers*.

But they got roasted - calling someone a *TikToker* was an insult in 2019. Remember?

Then, almost overnight (or so it felt), some people had built entire careers, businesses, and political followings on top of TikTok.

LinkedIn's about the same.

1. People have been laughing at it for years because it's cringe.

2. First movers who embraced the cringe and took the risk became influencers.

3. Now, capable operators are building entire businesses on top of it, using all its capabilities (content, ads, social selling, signal-based outbound).

The window's still open, but like always, it's about supply and demand.

Demand for content aka consumption.
Supply of content aka production.

If you want to supply content, it helps not to be last to the party.

I social media manager che dicono che “LinkedIn è rotto” descrivono un fenomeno diverso da quello che pensano.

Il calo di performance non arriva da una scelta misteriosa degli algoritmi, nasce dall’aumento dell’offerta di contenuti rispetto alla domanda.

Quando il rapporto si sbilancia, le metriche scendono per chiunque.

Ovviamente accade anche il contrario, qualche esempio dal passato:

> Nel 2019 con Cesare Pezzini abbiamo costruito una pagina Instagram che ha raggiunto 100.000 follower senza usare reel. Bastavano grafiche canva e una frequenza costante.

> Nel 2020 con Pietro Balestri un account TikTok ha superato 10.000 follower in pochi giorni grazie alla scarsità di creator competenti durante la pandemia.

> Nel 2023 con Maddalena Andolfato un cliente ha accumulato 1.000 iscritti organici su Substack con quattro newsletter mirate. 

> A inizio 2025 i video su LinkedIn preparati con Alessandro Spoto e Lorenzo Albertini hanno toccato con regolarità circa 500.000 impression per post nei progetti di Scaling Tales.

Questi specifici casi non dipendevano da scorciatoie tecniche o colpi di genio.

Riflettevano contesti in cui l’attenzione disponibile superava la quantità di contenuti pubblicati. In condizioni simili un lavoro accurato consente di crescere molto in fretta, perché la competizione è limitata.

Questo scenario cambia se il numero di creator aumenta. Le piattaforme principali stanno vivendo esattamente questo: una saturazione crescente.

La percezione di un algoritmo “rotto” deriva spesso dal confronto con periodi di bassa concorrenza.

Quando l’offerta di content aumenta (ma la domanda no), i contenuti “okay" faticano a ottenere visibilità. Solo quelli pensati in funzione del formato specifico riescono a raggiungere risultati stabili.

Le opzioni purtroppo non sono molte:

1. Ci si può spostare su piattaforme dove il rapporto domanda-offerta è ancora favorevole (forse Substack in qualche industry?).

2. Oppure si può sfruttare l’emergere di nuovi formati quando emergono, come è successo con i video su LinkedIn nel 2025.

3. La terza strada consiste nel ripensare in modo significativo la qualità e il merito di ogni contenuto.

Queste tre direzioni coprono la maggior parte dei casi concreti. Se mi scrivi, posso aiutarti a chiarire quale delle tre è più sensata per un progetto specifico.
