Watch how the Blue Angels (US Navy) practice visualisation before every flight to perform the best they can. (sound on - it’s sensational)

The Blue angels are one of the highest performing special forces team in the world. 

They use process and negative visualisation frequently. 

When visualising they close their eyes and: 

- Mentally rehearse every formation shift (individual and team)
- Mentally listen to the radio calls and inputs 
- Add the tiniest of movements to make it more real for the brain. 
- See things going wrong and how they would overcome it

When you visualise, the brain fires as if you were actually doing the real thing. 

This level of mental rehearsal: 

- Minimises errors and improves performance 
- Increases confidence and trust (especially in high pressured environments) 
- Sharpens reflexes and control. 

And according to the squadron leaders, this is a non-negotiable practice they have been doing for decades 

Because it makes a significant difference to their preparedness & performance. 

I’m not a pilot, but I use this exact technique for my own performance and so can you.

I’ve realised that true self confidence has given me an unfair advantage in work and life. I built it from scratch. Here’s how you can too (in ~90 seconds):

P.s I spent over 6 years learning how to build real confidence from the inside out. This combines neuroscience, psychology and philosophy. 

1. Build a Self-Confident Identity
- Confidence starts with who you believe you are.
- Ask: how does the confident version of me walk, talk, sit, breathe, make decisions?
- Visualise this version 3x a week in detail.
- Your brain rehearses before reality catches up.

2. Keep Promises to Yourself
- Confidence = trusting your own word.
- Start small: workouts, boundaries, routines.
- Every kept promise says: “I can rely on myself.”
- Broken self-promises quietly destroy confidence.

3. Build Bounceability (Resilience)
- Life will knock you sideways.
- Confident people aren’t unshaken - they recover faster.
- Reframe setbacks as feedback, not identity.
- Ask: What’s this training me for?

4. Stop Waiting to “Feel Ready”
- Confidence follows action - not the other way around.
- Do it nervous. Do it imperfect.
- Every rep faces fear.
- Momentum beats motivation.

5. Be Ruthless With Your Self-Talk
- Your mind listens to everything you say.
- No self-insults. No dramatic stories.
- talk to yourself like your best friend or coach 
- Confidence grows when your inner voice is disciplined.

I just spent 24 hours in the very beautiful but freeeeezing Stockholm - delivering a keynote to 500 people on…

👉 building a champion mindset.

We went deep on what it really takes to perform when it matters most.

Not just skills.
Not just strategy.
But the mind behind the performance.

We explored how to:

- Strengthen self-belief so confidence isn’t dependent on circumstances

- Treat pressure as predictable - something you can train for and thrive in, not fear

- Take ownership of self-image, because you will never outperform the way you see yourself

And of course I guided everyone through a visualisation so theory became practice. 

One message that really landed was this:

No matter how exciting or polished a company vision is, it’s the people who bring it to life.

And if you want strong results, you need strong minds.

Empowering employees with the tools to manage pressure, believe in themselves, and take ownership of who they’re becoming isn’t a “nice to have” - it’s a performance multiplier.

Watching the room lean in, reflect, and fully engage was incredible.

Huge respect to everyone who showed up ready to do the inner work.

That’s where real performance starts.

Over the weekend, I took over Tottenham Court Road with Nike. (It was insane 😱)

We launched Nike Mind - a completely new way to experience mental fitness. 

Members of the public stepped into a 15-minute journey: trying the shoe, grounding into their bodies, and moving through a guided visualisation designed to connect mind and movement.

Every few sessions, I had to pause and genuinely ask myself: Is this real? 

Nike. the biggest sports brand in the world talking openly about mental fitness? 

The narrative is truly changing.

What made it even more powerful was watching people’s reactions. 

Yes, they were blown away by the feel of the shoe - but what really stayed with them was the experience. 

The stillness. 
The focus. 
The moment of presence in the middle of a busy London street.

This wasn’t just a product launch. 

It was a statement. 

That performance isn’t only physical. That the mind matters. 

That the future of sport, movement, and wellbeing is experiential.

And Even though I was working all weekend, it felt like a privilege. 

My highlight was that I wasn’t just talking to athletes. I had conversations with doctors, entrepreneurs, kids and mums who wanted to wear them. 

A weekend I will never forget :) 

P.s did you know this shoe has taken 10 years to make? 10 years!!!!!!

Yesterday my client asked me: “How do you actually learn to believe in yourself?” This was my reply: (the pic will make sense in a sec)

I didn’t give them a hype answer. 
I shared something that genuinely changed my belief system. 

It’s what I call the football fan method ⚽️

Think about the most passionate and crazy football supporter you know. Any team. (Other than Chelsea 😂😂) 

- They are so good at celebrating when their team wins. 
- They sing, cheer, soak in the good moments.
- And they stick around when things fall apart: when shots are missed, confidence drops, or the season is hard to watch.

sometimes I look at a stadium of 60,000 people cheering for strangers and think: why aren’t we cheering for ourselves the same way?

We’re nowhere near as good at celebrating ourselves as we could be. 

And we’re even worse at sticking with ourselves when things get hard.

The football fan method is simple: do both.

1. Celebrate your wins - even the tiny ones you usually brush past.

2. And when you miss a shot/experience a set back, don’t tear yourself down. Clap for the effort. Stay loyal. Keep going.

You have to become your own team and be the fan you would want in the stands.

I’ve been doing this for three years now. 

And honestly, it’s changed who I am. 

Not because I stopped failing - but because I started being fully present for myself, in both the highs and the lows.

Back yourself. Cheer for yourself. Take the bet on yourself.

BECOME A FOOTBALL FAN FOR YOURSELF

If you ask any champion, successful entrepreneur, or bold visionary what it really takes to succeed… They all say the same thing.

Self-belief.

Ronaldo said it.
Jeff Bezos said it.
Oprah said it.
Sara Blakely said it.
Richard Branson said it.
Serena Williams said it.

And here’s the good news 👇
Self-belief isn’t a personality trait. It’s a skill.

No one is born with it.
It’s built. Earned. Practiced. Maintained.

I’ve spent the last 6 years deliberately building mine and it’s changed everything.

• It’s why I didn’t give up while living with an incurable illness
• It’s why I became Nike’s first-ever mental fitness trainer
• It’s why I trust myself to follow through, even when things feel uncertain

Self-belief doesn’t mean confidence 24/7.

It means backing yourself even when doubt is loud.

Here’s how to start building it, today:

1️⃣ Define it
What does self-belief actually look like for you? (It shows up differently for everyone.)

2️⃣ Prove it
Choose one small action today that reinforces trust in yourself. Keep the promise. Do the thing. 

3️⃣ Repeat it
Treat self- belief like a muscle. Do the reps again and again. 

Just imagine who you’d become and what you’d create if you believed in yourself 10% more.

I started mental fitness live with 4 people on zoom (one was my sister). Yesterday, 160 attended live in London. And we sold out 4 times. 

Hosted at the incredible Fulham pier: 

- I taught the foundations of mental fitness.
- We trained our minds like elite athletes.
- I guided 3 immersive visualisations - for managing emotions, gratitude and identity 

The energy in the room was electric. 

- someone flew all the way from Norway 
- 3 people were having their Christmas party 
- a couple came for date night 

There was a 45/55 male–female split.

That’s rare in traditional wellness spaces and says something about what we’re building.

🧠 “That felt like coaching, a gym session, and a mindset reset in one.”
💬 “I didn’t expect to feel or learn this much. I took action straight away’ 
✨ “Came in skeptical but have left with such a rich perspective and so many tools’ 

When designing the event, I look at every little detail. And this year we really levelled up. 

- using specific colours and sound for the brain 
- creating moments of surprise, joy, emotion, confusion and intensity 
- taking each attendee on a journey as soon as they step foot in the door. 

I have woken up feeling so grateful and excited for what’s to come.

The mind has a natural tendency to imagine the worst case scenario.

Not because something is wrong with us, but because that’s how we learned to survive.

For a long time, noticing danger and preparing for what could go wrong kept us safe.

But today, that same instinct often shows up as overthinking.
- Revisiting old mistakes.
- Carrying worries about things that haven’t even happened yet.
- Assuming things won't work out

The mind leans toward fear without us realising it.

So what if, instead of fighting that habit, we gently redirected it?

If overthinking is going to happen anyway, what if it focused on the best possible outcome instead?

- What if things work out?
- What if the situation unfolds better than expected?
- What if you succeed and achieve the goal? 

It might feel unfamiliar.
It won’t make life perfect.
But let yourself believe that life is working out for you. 

It can change the lens you see the world through.
And sometimes, that shift is enough.

You have a big meeting or presentation. “I’ll mess up. They’ll judge me. Everything will go wrong.”

It’s exhausting, isn’t it?
That pit in your stomach.
The racing thoughts.
The voice whispering: “You’re not ready. You’ll fail.”

Most people live here.

And your brain believes it.

It can’t tell the difference between imagination and reality.

The more you replay the worst-case scenario, the more your brain hunts for ways to make it real.

Fear grows. Confidence shrinks. Performance drops.

And the worst part? You’re not even aware it’s happening.

It’s subtle. Sneaky. But it’s costing you every time.

Now imagine something different.

You walk in calm.
Confident. Focused. Nailing your points.
Feeling proud. Feeling capable.

Your brain starts wiring for success instead of fear.

It spots opportunities you wouldn’t have noticed.

It builds momentum. It builds belief.

🎯 Your performance is shaped by what you rehearse in your mind first.

Only visualise failure, and fear shows up.

Visualise success, and you are more likely to succeed. 

It’s not magic. It’s how your mind works.
And you can use it.

This 60 second video is a masterclass on failure, bouncing back and the champion mindset. 

Federer said he won only 54% of the points he ever played yet over 80% of his matches.

Even the greatest players lose nearly half the time.

That’s not a flaw, it’s a lesson.

Three ways his mindset changed how I see life and work:

 1. Treat life like a game
- In tennis, losing points is expected.
- In life, setbacks, rejections, mistakes and failures aren’t failure either. They’re just points. You can win the next one.

 2. Once the point is gone, let it go
- Federer resets immediately after a lost point.
- Learning to accept, release, and refocus.
- This is bounceability - one of the most powerful skills in life and work.

 3. Win what actually matters
- You don’t need to win every point to win the match.
- Focus on what truly counts. Success comes from consistency, grit, and attention - not perfection.

Ironically, the most successful people lose a lot.

They just don’t let loss linger.

This entire philosophy has changed how I deal with failure in my own life.

I practiced all these points again and again.

It’s meant I now I embrace it. I welcome it. And it’s made me stronger than ever.

6. Clean Up Your “Micro-Leaks”
- Confidence quietly drains through tiny behaviours.
- Over-explaining. Nervous laughing. Instant replying. Apologising unnecessarily.
- Audit where you give away power without noticing.

7. Anchor Yourself With Micro-Postures
- Small, repeatable body cues influence mindset.
- Example: standing with feet firmly grounded, shoulders back, hands lightly clasped for 60 seconds before a meeting.
- These prime your brain for confidence, even before the words come.

8. Learn to Sit in Discomfort Without Reacting
- Confidence isn’t loud, it’s regulated.
- Don’t rush to fill silence. Don’t rush to explain. Don’t rush to fix.
- Pause. Breathe. Respond slowly.
- The ability to stay grounded under pressure is magnetic.

9. Stop Trying to Be Liked - Start Being Clear
- People-pleasing feels safe but erodes self-respect.
- Clear > nice. Honest > agreeable.
- Say no early. State standards upfront.
- Every act of clarity reinforces inner authority.

10. Build Evidence, Not Affirmations
- Confidence grows from proof, not positive thinking.
- Keep a “wins log” - small, boring, consistent wins.
- Read it when doubt hits.

11. Own YOUR Narrative 
- Everyone is telling themselves a story about who they are.
- Most stories are default, reactive, or borrowed from others.
- Rewrite your internal narrative: you are capable, resilient, decisive.
- Confidence isn’t “faking it” - it’s living your story deliberately.

We spend so much of our lives defined by what we do. Our jobs. Our roles. The titles we carry in relationships. But thats not all of who we are… 

I see it with some of my clients. CEOs, athletes, high performers. 

People so invested in their position that losing it feels like losing themselves.

I was reminded of this watching a clip of Sadio Mané.

He said: “I don’t want to be remembered just as a football player - I want to be remembered as a great human being. There are so many, many things more important than football.”

And he’s right. 

I think he has such a powerful perspective. 

He’s saying: I am not my sport. I am not my role. Beyond all of it, I am a human being.

That’s the hard question: who are you without it?

Without the CEO title. 
Without the football career. 
Without the accolades or recognition.

It’s uncomfortable. Scary even. But it’s necessary.

So go on, who’s going to be brave? Who are you without all the roles you play in life?
