🧪 A student of my 3D Computer Vision Program got near flawless Stereo Matching results. The way he found out is crazy. 👇🏽

Michael Buyer was using classical Stereo Vision algorithms, and got high errors, especially at long range. 20 meters instead of 16. 54 instead of 47, and so on...

He tried Depth Anything, a Deep Learning model, but realized the slightest overlap would break it. Any tree or pothole inside the bounding box was breaking the object's depth. Easy objects had low error, all the others had giant errors.

He then tried a different approach, based on 2D/3D projections, object consistency, and object detection. The result is the video you see
