I have been working with the Airline Sustainability Forum on its cabin waste project, coordinating research based on a full supply chain mapping exercise to identify the packaging materials currently being used on-board commercial aircraft, where they come from, how they are used, what waste treatment is available and to consider how sustainable each option truly is.  

The ASF is on the advisory committee for the newly launched Global Tourism Plastics Initiative, led by the UN Environmental Programme and the World Tourism Organisation in collaboration with the Ellen MacArthur Foundation.

In my Special Projects role I worked with the  Corporate Development team to facilitate and support customers in improving their environmental performance through improved resource and waste management. With the waste hierarchy as my guiding principle, I endeavour to encourage a  preventative approach and to strive for something more than 'zero to landfill'.    

As manager on several projects I worked with teams both inside and outside the company, coordinating and overseeing various work streams. I also identified and captured examples of good practice in a portfolio of case studies to act as templates for future service, as well as for bid support and marketing purposes.

I have over 25 years’ experience of advising clients in many industry sectors on legal, regulatory and commercial matters. I also have a Masters in Environmental Technology from Imperial College which I took to further my knowledge and expertise in this area - an interest and influence which has shaped my career. 

I am interested in waste in all its forms and its potential for use as a resource, including re-use, recycling and energy from waste. I enjoy both the practical and logistical challenges of the subject as well as the policy, stakeholder engagement, regulatory and compliance aspects.
