The Impact
- During the 4 month dispute with UMG/UMPG I successfully analyzed the rights map and worked to ensure content rights were maintained on TikTok
- Built and trained team on Market Share Insights Dashboard, making trends in consumption fluctuation across ByteDance products and rightsholders more visible
- Successfully delivered DDEX DSR usage reports each month in compliance with reporting obligations, ensuring speedy payment of royalties to songwriters

The Responsibilities
- Lead EMEA reporting and operational compliance and deal negotiation support
- build database and analytic tools to support efficient distribution of music royalties and effective license negotiation 
- strengthen technology and operational partnerships with European Collective Management Rightsholders and cross territorial licensing entities including but not limited to:
- AMRA, ICE Services, BUMA/STEMRA, SACEM, SOLAR, Broma-16 and POLARIS.

- Lead development of market intelligence product, an easy to use, reliable destination for knowledge consolidation across Spotify business units | Launched BETA (Jan 2023) 
- Manage relationships/engagements with external research partners | Delivered proof of concept research engagement w/ one vendor (50k budget).    
- Operational Advisor to R&D partners (alongside Accounting, Legal and Internal Audit) on requirements for data capture and process changes needed to enable launch of new products that leverage music in innovative ways | Product launches include Spotify DJ Mixes, music playback in Spotify Live, Music preview watch-feed in Spotify wrapped 2022.

- Released new data standards in partnership with other DSPs, Music Publishing Entities, and the MLC (DDEX) to enable critical metadata and usage reporting as described in US mechanical copyright regulation.
- Launched Spotify's reporting and payments operation with the Mechanical Licensing Collective (MLC) starting January 2021

Project Highlights:
- Organized data driven defense for multiple matters including $1.6B copyright lawsuit 
- Developed process improvements for critical publishing royalties systems, goal of driving margin improvements and industry efficiencies 
- Served as subject matter expert in data governance and operations for music publishing rights at Spotify, especially US Mechanical licensing and compliance
- Managed and execute data analysis (SQL, GCS, Google BigQuery) to quickly bring insights to legal/licensing stakeholders
- Represented Spotify in DDEX music standards body, member of working group that released next generation sales reporting claiming standards (CDM, DSR)
- Agile evangelist for software engineering, project management and continuous improvement best practices within Spotify’s legal and global affairs organization
