20 hours back on the mainland and, shocker, I already miss Kona.

The ocean. The sun. The pace. The energy. 
The calm I feel every day I’m there.

I took a 10 day “break.”

Which, let’s be honest, means I worked about 20%.

A few meetings and team trainings here and there.

I barely posted. I barely engaged. 
I mostly just… lived. Island style.

And spent a week with one of my closest friends of 12+ years, basically my second little sister.

Her being there forced me to enjoy the island I call my part-time home.

When I’m alone, I work around the clock.
Building Luminetics. Scaling. Creating.

It’s fun for me. I like the grind.
And now is go time. 
But left unchecked, I’ll run myself into the ground.

Done it before. Will probably do it again.

The difference now is simple.
I’m building a life where taking 10 days at 20% is normal.

Where I can travel the world.
Meet my people wherever they are.
And they meet me in epic places too.

And actually enjoy all the things I work so hard to create.

That’s the point.
Not the big house or the fancy car or whatever shiny thing we’re told to chase.

Most of what we obsess over doesn’t matter.
At all.

What does matter is this...

- The people you love.
- The places that change you.
- The moments you’ll still think about long after everything else fades.
- Spending your time on things that light you up. 

And spreading love and joy to as many humans as possible.

In other words… “live aloha.”

So as you think about next year, ask yourself a real question...

Why do you want what you want?

Not the surface reason. The root one.

The one that tells you how you actually want to live.

Because if you chase a goal that doesn’t move your soul, you’ll hit it and still feel empty.

If you chase the life that lights you up, everything else compounds.

Listen to yourself.
You always know.

Hundreds of thousands of people packed into the streets.

See that sea of humans down there?
That’s what most businesses look like online.

Everyone is “showing up.”
Everyone is “posting.”

Delta: 1,500

October just broke a 4-year record. And not in a good way.

Alexa didn’t sugarcoat it.

Most roles aren’t just being cut.
They’re being restructured around automation.
Or outright replaced by AI.

The irony - I legit “chased fire” all weekend with the active volcano here. 

I was telling Lindsey the story about how we showed up Saturday, it wasn’t erupting like crazy yet. 

It starts Sunday morning, so we drive, again to see these 1500 foot lava fountains and we were 10 min too late. They just stopped. 

2 hours there and 2 hours back, plus getting stuck in traffic at the park… we didn’t even get out of the car. Womp womp. 

I tell her the story, then boom, my Mr Coffee grinder literally catches flames. 

Universe trying to tell me something? 👀 

Whole place smelled, ashes all over kitchen, and crime scene evidence on the wall (see comments 😆). 

It wasn’t being used at that time, just plugged in. 

Think I should call Mr. Coffee and tell them?

Maybe you don’t want to hear this, and it’s definitely the opposite of what many on here say... 

But I think you need a message in your connection requests.

Here’s why:

Most profiles look like garbage.

Weak headlines.
Lame (or empty) About sections.
Very little posting.
Nothing that builds trust.

So when you send a blank request, buyers treat it like spam.

And honestly, they should.

This is where people screw it up.
They assume a cold, context-free request is enough.

It’s not.

Here’s the smarter 5-step play.

1. Fix your profile so you don’t look like a spammer.

2. Add a short, custom message so you actually stand out.

3. When they accept, send a simple thank you and one light question.

4. Keep the conversation on LinkedIn if they answer.

5. If they ghost you for four or five days, then email.

Your connection strategy changes when your profile earns trust.

Most salespeople aren’t there yet.

So yes, you need the message.

Now, if you are in a leadership role and you have a legit profile, you can send blank connection requests and receive a high acceptance rate. 


P.S. I currently have over 200 pending connection requests. The ones with custom messages get skimmed and accepted first. The blank ones only make it through if the profile looks legit and it's someone I feel like could add value.

Here is how buyers actually buy now...

Your rep sends an email or InMail.
The buyer skims it.
Then they open LinkedIn to see who this person is.

If they see a ghost profile.
No content.
No point of view.
No proof they understand the buyer’s world.

That deal is already dragging uphill.

Personal branding is no longer a nice to have.

In 2026 it is core sales infrastructure.

If your team is faceless online, you are asking them to compete with a weight vest on.

The perfect weekend. Better than 6-7. 😉

After a good week getting 2 referrals, and 
onboarding 2 new clients, I headed home.  

Pizza on Thursday night. 
Greek food Friday night.  
Blackhawks win Saturday night. 

And the mid November weather was perfect.  

Thank you Chicago.  You did not disappoint!  

Heading back to Florida today.  
Won’t be around much.  

This was exactly what I needed for the 
push of the end of the year.  

I’ll catch up with all comments when I can.

How was your weekend?

There's three ways to buy long-term care protection:

Which one is the right one for you?

Most law firm owners I meet don’t avoid planning for long-term care.

It's just that no one ever had the conversation with them, 
and they just may not understand it.

Some think it’s all the same: 
You pay a premium, and hope you never need it.

But these days, there’s actually three very different ways 
to design long-term care protection.

Here’s a quick breakdown I share with my clients:

1. Traditional Long-Term Care Insurance:
Think of it like homeowner’s insurance for your health.
You pay a premium, and if you need care, the policy pays benefits.
If you don’t need it, at least you were protected, just like car or home insurance.

✅Pros: Typically the lowest cost for pure coverage.
⚠️Cons: “Use it or lose it.” Premiums can increase over time.

2. Hybrid Life Insurance with Long-Term Care
This one’s become the most popular.
It combines life insurance with long-term care benefits.
If you need care, the policy pays for it.
If you don’t, your family receives the life insurance benefit when you pass.

✅Pros: You’ll always get value, either for care or a death benefit.
⚠️Cons: Higher upfront cost compared to traditional LTC.

3. Annuity with Long-Term Care Benefits
Ideal for people with existing cash or CDs earning little interest.
You reposition money into an annuity that multiplies its value for long-term care needs.

✅ Pros: Leverages idle money for future protection, with guarantees.
 ⚠️ Cons: Best for those who can tie up assets for the long term.

The truth is, there’s no “one-size-fits-all.”
The best option depends on your age, health, liquidity, 
and how much flexibility you want.

The goal?
To protect your assets, and your independence, 
so your family never faces the same tough choices mine did.

November is Long-Term Care Awareness Month, 
and it’s the perfect time to review your protection strategy.

Are you aware of the 40% gap? 

Too many law firm owners and attorneys 
don't take long-term disability insurance seriously.

More often than not, your group coverage 
isn’t what you think it is. 

Here’s an example of how Tony found out that he wasn’t protected enough:

He had a monthly income of $15k

His group coverage at the firm only covered the typical 60% of income. 

What he didn’t realize is that there was a
cap on the coverage of $6,000 per month. 

Here’s what that looks like:

Monthly income: $15,000.

60% of coverage equals: $9,000 per month.

Disability coverage: 60% of income up to $6,000/month

Shortfall: $3,000 per month.

Actual disability coverage: 40% of monthly income.

That’s not enough protection for him and his family. 

And wait.  It doesn’t end there.  

If the firm pays for his coverage his 
monthly benefits could also be taxable. 😬 

That makes the gap even worse. 

We filled the gap with a personal policy.
One that follows him no matter where he goes.

One that took less that 10 days to put in place.
Simple.  Easy.  And affordable.

Now Tony doesn't have to wonder anymore if "it" happens,
will he and his family be okay.  He knows they will.

Your number one asset is your ability to earn an income.

And income doesn’t grow on trees.

Knowing your benefits beats being surprised by them when you need them.

“Meet me under the clock.”

In Chicago, you don’t need a map.
You don’t need a pin.

You need four words and you know where to be. 

State & Washington.

Say it out loud and every Chicagoan instantly knows:
You mean THE clock, the Marshall Field’s clock.

 The original meetup spot before you had
GPS, texting, or “I’m almost there” excuses.

Only in this beautiful city could a clock on a corner have more loyalty, 
history, and meaning than half your cousins.

You didn’t need directions.

You didn’t need to ask questions. 

You just need to say “Meet me under the clock,”
and everyone magically appeared right where they were supposed to be.

Christmas festivities started early this year! 

I was not expecting this on my trip back home!

Friday morning my brother and I went to Brookfield Zoo.
John volunteers there, and has been since he retired.

It gives him purpose, and he really enjoys doing it,

We went there this morning to decorate this Christmas tree.
It's in honor of his wife Lisa, who passed away many years ago.

I'm really glad we had a chance to do this on my trip.

The morning was beautiful.
Just like Lisa. 💓
