I work at the messy end of sales, partnerships, and leadership.The part where internal politics, fear, incentives, and timing shape outcomes long before a proposal is written.I help sellers, partnership teams, and operators make buying safe.That means reducing internal exposure, building trust across coalitions, and clearing deals through the second room.When that happens, deals move without pressure, customers stay longer, and leaders get clearer forecasts.I am the creator of the Ally Method, a practice for seller behaviour under buyer risk, and Decision Safety, a field of work on how unsafe decisions form and who inherits the consequences.My focus is survivability, stakeholder incentives, veto power, and implementation risk.I do not teach scripts. I train judgement.This is not playbook friendly work.If you sell into Finance, Risk, Legal, Ops, boards, or cross functional alliances, you already know that scripts and sequences do not survive contact.Over 35 years I have built and repaired sales teams, run partnerships and channels, trained managers, and worked with founders and boards through turnarounds and resets.I build operating systems, diagnostics, and practical training for teams who want clean revenue, honest management, and long term customers.If your world is transactional or high volume, I am not a fit.If your world is complex, political, or coalition based, we are solving the same problem.My stance is simple.Protect trust.Remove pressure.Reduce regret.Make decisions survivable.

For more than 30 years, I’ve been at the intersection of sales and education—bringing the energy, urgency, and creativity of a 100% commission sales career into the classroom and boardroom.

Those early years selling on commission honed my ability to close deals, deliver under pressure, negotiate effectively, put the customer first, and adapt on the fly—often using the Improv skills I still teach today. I’ve always seen myself as a lead agent for change, whether in a corporate training room, a university lecture hall, or a consulting engagement.

Along the way, I’ve authored 150+ refereed articles and proceedings on sales challenges, with my doctoral dissertation focused on negotiation. I served as Editor of the Journal of Selling for 13 years (2012–2025), shaping thought leadership in modern sales strategy and education.

I’ve also built and transformed sales programs:
Founded a university sales center from the ground up (William Paterson University)
Revitalized a mature, nationally recognized sales program (Northern Illinois University)
Earned six national teaching awards, including:
• AMA Innovative Teacher Award (2002)
• University Sales Center Alliance Innovative Sales Educator Award (2006)
• AMA Sales SIG Excellence in Teaching Award (2011)

My philosophy: Learning should be engaging, stimulating, and enabling—and most effective when it’s experiential, inquisitive, and adventuresome. Personally meaningful learning is remembered, invoked, and used to improve oneself, the organization, the community, and even family.

Outside of work, I enjoy making wine and traveling—both of which keep me curious, creative, and connected.
