When sending DM openers I find DEEP commonalities.

People buy from people they like.

So warm yourself up first.

Find the deepest thing you guys have in common & mention it.

Here’s how:

Ask yourself these 5 questions about the prospect:

1 - Did they grow up in same region you did?

Mention it. Example:

"Oh cool you're from Iowa. I lived in Des Moines 1st-12th grade. The nicest people ever hahaha. Just a shame there's nothing to do"

2 - Do they live in a place you’ve vacationed in?

Mention it. Example:

"Stockholm is such a majestic place btw. Was just there in August and ended up loving it so much I extended my stay. You were raised there?"

3 - Are they in a niche you’re an expert in?

Mention it. Example:

"It's crazy how quick the cold email game changes. I signed Universal Music & Red Bull on $100K+ a year deals in 2018-19. Manually with Gmail. Now it's all about blasting 10,000 emails a day and whoever has the best tech wins"

4 - Have the same polarizing opinion you have?

Mention it. Example:

"Dude totally agree /w you on the college thing. My father got his PhD in his early 20s. I skipped college and moved to LA at 19. Apple fell far from the tree lol"

5 - Hold the same belief you do?

Mention it. Example:

"100% with you on the 9-5 thing. I worked at Panera Bread at 16 and that was my only real job I've had. Being an entrepreneur >>>>"

Multi-Thread Conversations.

Here's how they work:

STEP 1 - THE OPENER

Keep it simple.

"Hey NAME"

Next...

STEP 2 - THE RESTRAINED COMPLIMENT

Give them a compliment.

But don’t show too much enthusiasm...

Instead of: "LOVE what you're doing with (COMPANY)!"

Use: "Solid work with (COMPANY). Interesting approach"

This shows you're not easily impressed + are an expert.

STEP 3 - THE OFFER REPHRASE

Literally just take what they do and put it into a question.

"You do Google ads for marketing agencies right?"

Pries pain points + shows you did research.

STEP 4 - THE AUTHORITY-BUILDING OBSERVATION

Make an INSIGHTFUL observation about their biz/industry demonstrating your expertise.

"Wait you work with agency owners yeah?

Funny how most agencies have 20-30% margins. 

Super tough to scale because you need to hire A-players and to do that you actually need 40-60% margins..."

Shows you're HIGHLY EXPERIENCED in THEIR niche...

Be hyper-specific on a prospect-by-prospect basis here

STEP 5 - THE PERSONAL CONNECTION

Connect as DEEP as possible personally... use:

- Culture

- Geography

- Hobbies

Example:

"Ahh you're in Chicago? I grew up in Des Moines, Iowa. Like 6 hours West of you guys. Used to go to Evanston all the time. Miss me those deep-dish pizzas. My mouth is watering right now thinking about it"

This shows you're not JUST trying to get the sale.

Plus you build a warm connection.

Make this LAST message in your initial DMs so it's what someone sees in their DM inbox when they open it up.

BIG MISTAKE: quitting after the 1st "no” in the DMs

Recent situation:

Bendik initially rejected our client’s call pitch.

20 min later he booked a call.

I broke down the full psychology behind every word.

99.9% won't understand client acquisition at this level.
