Jamaica Youth Development Foundation

As I travelled around Jamaica, I saw many talented young people who were good basketball and Soccer players. I knew they could get scholarships to US Colleges and Universities but needed an organisation to find these opportunities.

I decided to do something about this and from this ideas was born, Jamaica Youth /development foundation.

To find these talented players, Jamaica Youth Development Foundation partnered with Jamaica Basketball Association and other local clubs to organise summer camps. We invited coaches from many top universities to come to Jamaica to search for 'talent.

From this initiative, many young men were offered scholarship to attend US Colleges and Universities.

Today I look back with a sense of pride at the lives we have changed and the impact we made in the lives of many  young Jamaicans.

In 1995, the Jamaican Life Insurance Industry which was previously dominated by a few 'Giant' companies, saw a flood of overseas company and few small players entering the market.

My vision was to be more and to do more so I boldly started Fortune Life Insurance Agency

We marketed Life and Health insurance for the following companies:

		Prime Life Assurance Company
		Morgan White Administrators (Florida)
		Best Meridian Insurance Company (Florida)

Life of Jamaica

In 1978 I entered the Life Insurance business as a sales Representative for Life of Jamaica. This was one of the best decisions of my life as my high energy, drive and personality were ideal for this position.

During the years of 1978- 1995, I rose from the ranks of sales to being the Overseas Marketing Manager. 

Today the skills I mastered and the network of customers and contacts developed around Jamaica are some of my greatest assets.

I was a school teacher for a few years and loved it. I realized that my true passion was helping students learn and grow in new and exciting ways, so I started offering unforgettable adventure trips that would expand their learning beyond the traditional classroom.  Unfortunately, my other passion, sales & marketing had a stronger pull, so I quit teaching and became an entrepreneur eventually owning several businesses.

In 2005, we launched our new International Education Program and welcomed my first Service Learning Group. My heart danced with joy as I got to see my participants engaging with the local community and learning about Jamaican culture firsthand. My first brand, Jamaica Volunteer Programs was born. Later, I co-founded Global Service Adventures to reach beyond Jamaica and provide service learning opportunities in the Caribbean.
