• Clients were headquartered in Canada and the United States with operations all over the globe
• Worked with national and international EY team members to leverage industry and local expertise
• Performed financial due diligence including:
     (1) Deconstruction and analysis of cashflow projections
     (2) Analysis of quality of earnings and profitability models
     (3) Analysis of quality of net assets, net working capital, as well as debt and debt like item
• Complied reports detailing the results of performed analysis, highlighting negotiation points to mitigate risk and understand the business value

Senior Associate, Transaction Advisory

• Audited large Canadian public and private companies in various industries
• Performed financial statement audits in accordance with IFRS and ASPE, and assisted with tax provision audits
• Clients included oil and gas, telecommunications, entertainment, and beverage, as well as private equity
• Led and supervised small groups between two seven people, acting as liaison with client’s management and other external parties during the audit
• Completed a term in the human capital group, preparing personal tax returns for expatriates residing in Canada and the United States

Welcome to my Profile! I'm Jake and I do tax things. I am currently a Tax Supervisor who specializes in caring for High Net Worth Families from start to finish. Financial statement preparation, Tax returns (1065/1120-S/1040 and all others) and general accounting. I work with many industries ranging from Construction, Real Estate and Timber but including many more. These companies range from several thousand to multi-million dollar per year companies.

My desire in the present is to be an active voice in the accounting world and to inspire others to join this awesome profession.

I’ve had the chance to truly walk through the projections of a large business sale whereas prior that likely would have been handled at the top.

My point behind this is directed at Accounting students. I would say to you that considering that smaller firm can sometimes have huge benefits around your client skills being developed as well as exposure to newer things. Keep the small firms on your radar!
