And now, to my story 👇

After 14+ years in an organization, I was a wreck.

I’d lost my energy, drive & hope.

Outwardly, I looked successful - making good money, dressed well, fit, smiling, super family. 

But inside I was a mess.
 
I was living a life of quiet desperation.

I didn't know what my life dreams were, and I was terrified to even look for them. 

I just knew they were no longer about climbing the corporate ladder… and becoming a powerful executive.

But, I was scared of what others would think. Including those closest to me.

Because I was less engaged and passionate in my life as a whole, I naturally started showing up to work less engaged.  I started to bring less energy to my family and friends, too.  

Then one September day in 2016, I hit the eject button.

I quit my "dream career" without a plan and with a wife and kids to support.

I knew I needed to bet on me. I also knew I needed to make time, room, and space in my life to figure out how to best show up as a greater version of me… how to make sure my life made a difference (while also paying the bills).

Miraculously, Matthew Kelly's book The Dream Manager crossed my path at just the right moment. It gave words to both my leadership style and what I was personally struggling with.

It inspired & encouraged me to reignite my life goals and dreams.  

It guided me to clarity of my life’s purpose… which has turned into my career.  

Now, I get to help people identify & get after their life goals & dreams. 

When your people become more engaged in their life as a whole, they naturally become more engaged & effective in the workplace.

Which is good for both the business and the person.

Led 140+ logisticians and buyers in supply chain operations, financials, inventory management, and procurement to include evaluating client requirements, statements of work, identification of qualified suppliers, and regulatory compliance. 

Accomplishments:

- Developed an optimized logistics plan to address supply chain challenges caused by COVID-19 through the employment of multiple surface and air assets to provide parts to sustain aircraft that resulted in 100% of combat missions flown.

- Developed and managed a $95M budget collaborating with departments across the organization to achieve annual budget goals.

- Increased replenishment of inventory at sea efficiency 25% by implementing a process improvement initiative.

- Exceeded all Key Performance Indicators winning the best logistic team for West Coast aircraft carriers and bets logistics/aviation team in the Navy for 2020.

Senior Supply Chain Manager

Supply Officer

Led 20+ logisticians and buyers in logistics, financials, inventory management, and sourcing. Provided customer consultation regarding the sourcing plan.  
 
Accomplishments:

- Managed and expedited 2,300+ overaged purchase requests --- decreased overaged purchase requests by nearly 30%.

- Developed and managed a $5.8M budget collaborating with 10 departments across the organization to achieve annual budget goals.

- Planned and executed the offload of $2.9M in excess inventory which optimized inventory and warehouse space by 15%, and provided reutilization opportunities across the Navy.

Responsible for Supply Department administration and 43 personnel.

Inventory Manager

Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA)

Managed the administration of a Contracts Department of 60+ personnel. Consulted 10 departments across the Enterprise in requirements evaluation, drafting statements of work, crafting requests for proposals, proposal evaluations, and procurement strategy.

Accomplishments:

- Earned contract signature authority in only 6 months after never before writing a contract.

- Reduced average procurement lead time 30%, developed a training guide, SharePoint page, and conducted training across the organization to address procurement process deficiencies.

- Applied strong leadership and collaboration skills and repaired a strained customer relationship. Result: Led a team of 5 through contract award, ahead of schedule while achieving a cost savings of $1.4M or 7.2% after having stalled for 18 months.

- Managed a team of 15+ from departments across the organization to include drafting the request  for proposal, proposal evaluation, and negotiation. Result: Awarded a $116M contract on time and under budget by $24M. 

- Increased procurement package accuracy 15%, implemented a feedback initiative for customers across the organization and developed a weekly email that provided on-the-spot training.

- Consulted 10 departments across the organization with acquisition planning and strategy, awarded $10.9M in contracts which contributed to a 12% increase in business.

Contracts Manager / Department Officer

Naval Supply Systems Command (NAVSUP)

Compiled situational awareness reports, analyzed and synthesized data, performed administrative duties, and briefed senior leadership daily. 

Accomplishments:

- Identified gaps and deficiencies to streamline processes and reduce errors --- created, implemented, and adjusted workflow strategies to ensure timely service.

- Compiled historical data which matrixed ship deployments to operational requirements to support $43M reduction in transportation costs.

Operations Manager, NAVSUP GLS

F*ck life, it would be so much easier if I didn't have to deal with this sh*t anymore.

This used to be my thinking for the better part of 20 years. 

I didn't kill myself because I had a wife and two boys to take care of and I'm thankful I didn't every day.

This was my mindset due to not dealing with my trauma from sexual abuse that occurred when I was 15 years old. 

During my career in the Navy, I coached and mentored others with their mindset, but it wasn't until my last deployment in the Navy that I decided I had enough and decided to change my mindset. 

Here's the six pillars that I've identified that helped me change my mindset and what I use to help others change theirs.

1. Self-Awareness

You can't change what you don't know you're doing. 

I had so many limiting beliefs and negative thoughts going through my mind every day.

The first step was being more aware of what I was thinking and stopping the negative thoughts and focusing on positive thoughts.

2. Ownership

You own your current life whether good or bad, you own it.

Life's not fair. Bad things happen to good people.

However, you own what you do about it. Ownership gives you control over your life.

3. Consistency

It's not enough to identify new habits. You must create consistency with them.

Consistency will change your mindset faster than anything else. 

You're going to have to make the decision to fight to stay consistent with the new changes you put in place.

4. Catharsis

You must address your past to heal.

When you address your past, you have to find ways to get out the toxic thoughts and events that are haunting you.

You do this through journaling, talking into a voice recording app, seeing a therapist, etc., but you must get it out.

5. Gratitude

Gratitude reminds us that we always have something to be thankful for.

Believe it or not, it could always be worse. There are so many people that have it worse than you do.

Find little things to be thankful for every day.

6. Challenge

Challenges are what help us grow the most. 

You are never going to be ready, you are going to be scared, but you need to push through it and do it.

This is how you grow and build confidence. This is how you build a strong mindset.

My goal is to help others from teens to executives change their mindset by eliminating limiting beliefs and negative thinking.
