This deal is a great example of how SBA financing can make business ownership attainable. Many buyers are surprised to learn that you can acquire an established company with as little as 10% down, while preserving liquidity for working capital and growth.

There’s also a strong push right now to support U.S. manufacturing jobs and domestic production, and SBA-backed lenders are actively supporting acquisitions that keep these businesses operating, growing, and employing American workers.

🚨 Important SBA Policy Change – Effective March 1, 2026 🚨
The SBA has announced a policy update that will prohibit Legal Permanent Residents (green card holders) from holding any ownership interest in SBA-financed businesses.

While strong lending standards are essential, this change unintentionally excludes law-abiding, tax-paying small business owners who live and operate permanently in the United States.

Legal Permanent Residents:
• Reside permanently in the U.S.
• Pay U.S. federal and state taxes
• Create and preserve American jobs
• Have historically been eligible SBA borrowers with strong performance

I started this petition to respectfully ask the SBA to reconsider this blanket prohibition and restore access for qualified Legal Permanent Residents in alignment with the SBA’s mission to support small businesses and job creation.

If you’re a lender, broker, CPA, attorney, or small business advocate, I encourage you to read and support the petition above. We hope to gather enough signatures to share with NAGGL who can use as additional support to communicate with DC.
