AMC Theatres is the largest theatre chain in the world with 8K+ screens and 5.4B in 2019 revenue. In 2016 I was promoted to Director to account for the team’s growth and our success in delivering an online ticketing system. I am responsible for long-term technology strategy, execution planning, and managing three leads and a~20-member organization that drives $500M in annual online ticket revenue. During my tenure we have delivered several critical systems and developed a healthy engineering culture that puts people in positions to succeed and grow professionally. 

Project highlights:
 - Drove design, build, and scaling for a core API platform (~70 APIs) leveraging a microservices architecture that supports internal, external and partner development teams. 
 - Led design, build, and scaling of platform for “A-List” subscription program that manages benefits and billing for 1M+ subscribers. 
 - Oversaw team in development of AMC On Demand video streaming service.
 - Managed design and delivery of systems for AMC’s loyalty program and to enable online food/beverage ordering and delivery. 
 - Coordinated technical efforts across teams and companies to deliver business value on top of the API platform.

After two years as a developer I was promoted to build a new team and drive execution for AMC’s ambitious goal of building a first online ticketing system. I built the team from scratch leveraging third-party recruitment agencies, designed hiring and onboarding processes, and established code review, QA testing, and CI/CD practices. 

Project highlights: 
 - Led design, build, and scaling of the online ticketing platform that enables ticket sales across all online touch points and search and discovery APIs used for both internal and external partners to search and use AMC’s catalog data. 
 - Drove design and build of a customer service support portal that features account and order lookup/details and provides ability to issue individual or batch refunds.
 - Developed a partner program for third parties (i.e. Fandango, Atom Tickets, Groupon, Facebook) to sell tickets via API or deep linking to AMC’s ticketing system. I was initially hired at AMC to serve as a core member of a web development team established to bring development in-house from an agency. 

Project highlights:
 - Designed and developed REST APIs for AMC’s Stubs rewards program which supports 25M users.
 - Presented “Pragmatic Hypermedia API Design” at KCDC 2013 based on experiences on the REST API.

American Academy of Family Physicians

AAFP is the only medical society devoted to primary care and represents 135K+ physicians and medical students nationwide. After six years in development I was promoted to report to the CTO and lead a six-member team in the design and development of custom modules for a new Association Management System and other in-house applications. 

I was responsible for defining architecture for all enterprise projects and managing definition and refinement of non-functional requirements. I also introduced the team to development best practices for version control, continuous integration, SOLID, testing, and writing reusable components. 

Project highlights:
 - Wrote a REST API for internal and integration purposes. 
 - Built mobile applications for both iOS and Android. 
 - Developed tools, procedures, and scripts for automating deployment of software and content to a web farm.

I was hired as a Programmer and promoted to the Senior role in 2005. My responsibilities included development, Solaris/Linux admin duties (largely automated via scripting), and participating in interview and hiring decisions.

Project highlights: 
 - Developed a multi tenant system for three medical/research journals to manage their data. Wrote specifications, built the software, participated in user testing, and maintained product to keep current with the journal’s practices. 
 - Built an e-commerce application and integrated it with legacy systems. Developed tools to enable staff to manage system data and monitor orders. 
 - Designed and developed an authentication, authorization and access Apache module in Perl. 
 - Designed and implemented load balancing/failover for web servers to improve performance and uptime.
