I found this letter from an old boss today.

I was making $30k/year at the time.

And they made me sign this.

Read it. 
Really read it.

"Don't wear hats or caps."
"Don't put your feet on company furniture."
"Don't make excuses like your car broke down."
"Turn your cellphone off during work hours."
"Do not cluster around an associate's work area chatting."

This isn't how you build culture.

This is how you build a dictatorship.

The moment this letter went out, the entire team stopped buying into leadership.

Not because the rules were unreasonable in isolation. 

But because forcing people to sign a document like this sends one clear message: "We don't trust you."

If you want people to show up professionally, influence them to do it.

Lead by example. 
Set the tone. 
Be a good leader.

Don't force employees to sign their way into a set of rules and boundaries that are unnecessary and insulting.

This approach doesn't work.

95% of you should not be touching Claude Code.

I don't care what everyone on LinkedIn is hyping right now.

It's a complete waste of your time.

Here's why.

Everyone's talking about Claude Code like it's going to revolutionize how you run your business.

Buying Mac minis. 
Spending hours setting up environments. 
Taking courses. 
Watching tutorials. 
Trying to vibe code their way into replacing not-so-expensive subscriptions.

And for what?

To spend 20+ hours building a janky replacement for a $200/month tool that already works.

That's not leverage. That's wasted time.

If you don't know anything about code, you definitely shouldn't be touching this.

And even if you do know some code, ask yourself: is THIS the highest-value use of my time right now?

Because here's what I see happening:

Founders and operators falling into the trap of "I can build this myself with AI" when their business has fundamental issues that actually need fixing.

Your sales process is broken.
Your team culture is horrendous.
Your churn is horrible.
Your messaging doesn't convert.
You don't have product-market fit.
Your team is underwater.

But instead of fixing those problems, you think spending 15 hours trying to vibe code something is what's really going to push the needle forward.

Congratulations. You just spent $10k worth of your time to avoid a $200/month subscription.

You devalued your own time.

And here's the reality nobody wants to admit:

You will never replace Hubspot with vibe coding. 

You will never build a project management tool that competes with what already exists.

You will never create something better than the enterprise tools that have hundreds of engineers working on them full-time.

No matter how good Claude Code gets. No matter how much you practice. No matter how many hours you sink into it.

You. Will. Not. Replace. Enterprise. Tools.

So why are people doing this?

Because it's shiny. Because it's new. Because everyone's talking about it.

And because it's easier to play with new tools than it is to fix hard business problems.

But playing with tools doesn't move revenue. It doesn't close deals. It doesn't fix broken processes.

If you're running a business, your job is to focus on the things that push the needle forward.

For 95% of people, that's not learning to code with AI.

It's fixing your offer. Improving your sales process. Building better systems. Hiring the right people. Executing faster.

The 5% who should use Claude Code? Go and use it, it's a great and fantastic tool and I'm not against you using it at all what-so-ever. 

Stop falling for the hype.

Stop devaluing your time.

Stop convincing yourself that some influencer who claims to have replaced their entire team and make hundreds of thousands of more dollars is telling the truth.

Stop letting people convince you that they replaced an enterprise level tool in just a few prompts.

Just pay for the subscription and get back to work on things that actually matter.

I kept the wrong people too long.

Not because I didn't see it.

Because I didn't want conflict.

I told myself:

Maybe they'll improve.
Maybe it's just a bad week.
Maybe I'm overreacting.

I wasn't.

Every time I decide internally that something needs to go, I'm right.

When I delay it, three things happen:

→ Standards drop
→ A-players notice
→ Momentum slows

Keeping someone in the wrong seat isn't kindness.

It lowers the bar.
It confuses expectations.
It traps them in the wrong role.

That's avoidance.

So I learned to fire fast and hire slow.

And to do it ethically. 

Rules I follow:

→ Fire on Monday, not Friday

Monday keeps them in work mode. Friday creates emotionall fallout.


→ Start with the truth
"I have bad news." Rip the band-aid off in the first 30 seconds.


→ Explain without blame
"This does not work here." Clear & Direct


Why this protects the business:

→ The standard is enforced
→ The tone is set
→ Performance is not negotiable

Why this protects the individual:

→ Clarity
→ Dignity
→ A faster path to a better fit

I've been fired the wrong way.
I won't repeat it.

Leadership is not avoiding hard conversations.
It is executing them correctly.

Hyper-niche, but we knew exactly who this would resonate with.

→ The Copy:

Line 1: Bold hook assuming they card about employee retention
Line 2: Why this resource matters to them specifically
Line 3: Simple yes/no ask
P.S.: "We're only looking for feedback"

→ The System:

Once they engaged with the lead magnet, we tracked it in Distribute.so.

They entered a nurture flow asking for feedback.

35% converted to closed deals.

→ Why This Worked:

We gave more than we asked for.

Most outreach extracts value. This gave it first.

When you lead with overwhelming value and ask for almost nothing, people reciprocate.

Would you rather pitch a meeting or give them a reason to say yes?

When I evaluate outbound, I think in four layers.

And I never hesitate to invest in Layer 1

Because Layer 1 determines whether anything else matters.


Layer 1 → Infrastructure

• Deliverability
• Account integrity
• Inbox placement
• Reputation

If this layer is weak, everything above it becomes unstable.
Infrastructure is binary. It works or it doesn’t.


Layer 2 → Strategy

• Who we target
• Why them
• Why now
• What angle we lead with

Vague positioning leads to vague responses.


Layer 3 → Execution

• List building
• Data validation
• Sequencing logic
• Tool configuration

Execution amplifies what’s underneath it.


Layer 4 → Deployment

• Speed.
• Adjustment.
• Responsiveness.

Deployment determines how fast you correct mistakes.


Most outbound problems start in Layer 1. 

We don’t optimize for cheap.
We optimize for deliverability.

We use:
→ Real Google accounts through Zapmail.ai
→ Reputable domain registrars
→ EmailBison for sequencing

Saving money upfront usually costs you campaigns later.

Burned domains.
Flagged accounts.
Lost inbox placement.
